Environment
We ensure that guests at our Family-run Residence enjoy a pleasant, safe and responsible stay whilst respecting and maintaining as much as possible the natural habitat of our wonderful island. To protect our wild areas, we ensure our guest do not walk on grass and never pluck out flowers or fauna from its natural habitat.
We also save all the rain water from the roofs and we decided to educate our guest recommending only 2 showers maximum a day. The staff received training and they are now able to avoid wasting energy (in particular for chambermaids).
Most of the residence is now equipped with low consumption bulbs and we pay attention to keep lights switched off when possible. We installed also solar water heater to make the most of our beautiful sun and we plan to install solar panels to provide green energy.
Recycling is a important part of our policy in the residence as in our restaurant and bar. We set up compost for our new-built garden and ensure all plants on it are growing with organic products.
We make sure our streets as well as our countryside and beaches are always kept clean and free of any debris to preserve the countryside and the environment.
Community
We encourage our guests to use public transports or local services. As we have lived here in Gozo for such a long time (our parents were already living here), we are proud to be part of the community, its ways of life, its food, its tourism too… so we are delighted to be able to make an impact on the local economy.
Our guests can take advantage of our local knowledge for walks and other activities such as boat trip in our sailing boat, and recommendations for fun places to eat and drink. We also propose our clients to visit more local attractions and discover some of our local products. All activities we may organize for our clients are located in Gozo (of course if it is possible to do it here).
We also decided to buy most of our products locally grown and produced in a small area around the hotel to decrease transport impact in the CO2 consumption.
Therefore our guests don't waste a Euro or a day being disappointed as we are ready to guide them through our countryside, and to our local suppliers who merit support: we support the active community in Sannat taking part in all locals events like the fest art of St Marguerite (organized by the church) and also all kind of activities proposed by the local council. We also support Malta’s planning authority in its decisions to protect old architecture and the countryside.
