Normandy self catering farmhouse with pool, France: the story of this holiday company
We first came here 15 years ago and fell in love with the area and the French way of life and we want you to love it too. We found Le Fresne, Vezins to be ideally placed for all that Normandy has to offer, from lush rolling countryside to rivers and lakes, and yet still only 20 minutes from the glorious beaches of the Cotentin Coastline and the Bay of Mont St Michel.
Whether you are looking for total relaxation or adventure you will find everything you need in this beautiful corner of Normandy
Responsible tourism: Normandy self catering farmhouse with pool, France
We grow organic produce and keep chickens. We encourage our guests to recycle their waste in our compost bins and feed waste food to the chickens. We store rainwater for use in the garden. We ask for our customers support in conserving water. We ask that if they find drips or leaks, to report them immediately and not to leave water running unnecessarily.
Our dual flush toilets are efficient conservation water management fixtures, using minimum volume to flush the toilets. We ask that visitors turn off lights and appliances when they are not in use.
We encourage our guests to recycle their rubbish wisely at the local recycling area. Energy efficient light bulbs are used throughout the house and garden. The house is mainly heated by wood fuels which are either taken from our land or from other locally sustainable sources. The pool is heated by a solar panel and has a solar cover.
We have a fosse-septic sewerage filter system on site, which via a well-managed process of naturally occurring bacteria is filtered & ultimately runs clean water into our adjoining field.
All materials used in the renovation of Le Fresne have been sourced locally including local stone, reclaimed roof tiles and beams.
We encourage guests to visit local attractions, eat in local restaurants and buy local produce by supplying the tourist with a Restaurant guide & Activity Guide
We sell local products to our guests including apple juice and fruit and vegetables which are grown by our neighbors.
We have a large selection of brochures for local attractions & events (not just the obvious ones but also those which are local and less well marketed) we enthusiastically encourage our guest’s participation.
We strive to use email in our business practices and to keep our office as paper-free as possible.
We are closely integrated with our local community; and we provide support both financially and with our time, helping out at local events. We support local charities by helping with fund raising, being supportive by attending meetings, joining in activities e.g. quiz nights, car boot sales, the local charity shop and giving unwanted items to these fund raising events. We all help each other in a small community like ours.
The spin off from tourists assist local shops, filling stations, restaurants and bars. The large supermarkets do not provide carrier bags - cutting cost and landfill, leaving the British supermarkets lagging far behind - so make sure you are forearmed with bags for life which we provide in the house.
