Zambia camping accommodation
How Zambia camping accommodation makes a difference
Environment
Prana Tented Camp uses solar geezers to heat the water in our safari tents. We also recycle all our kitchen waste using compost heaps, the compost is then used on our vegetable gardens. Our gardens use a combination of water wise plants & the natural bush is left untouched for guests to enjoy a very real bush experience.
Prana promotes the protection of the Flaura & Fauna in our area. There are several types of small antelope in the area as well as other small mammals. Each tent has a bird water table for guests to enjoy our varied birdlife. Prana also has over 50 species of birds identified on our bird list & encourage guests to add to the list during their stay! We provide an indigenous tree list to our guests & are in the process of naming individual tree species around the camp for guests to enjoy throughout their stay.
Community
Prana Zambia supports The Green Pop charity which promotes the planting of indigenous trees. We have been actively involved in their Trees For Zambia campaign. We sell key rings on site that represent one tree planted for every key ring sold. Planting trees, changing lives.
Greenpop is a social enterprise that runs urban greening and reforestation projects in sub-Saharan Africa. They plant trees in schools, communities, and deforested areas with the aim to spread environmental awareness, uplift under-greened communities, make greening enjoyable and combat climate change
We are also supporting The Butterfly Tree charity this September in the Yoga Aid World Challenge. The Butterfly Tree supports rural communities in Zambia affected by H.I.V. providing safe water, feeding programs & education.
We value our local staff by employing them all from our surrounding villages & offering on & off site training opportunities.
We buy locally made products wherever possible & also grow our own vegetables & herbs.
