We encourage guests at our Cilento farmhouse accommodation to visit local producers such as: cheese and organic mozzarella makers, olive mills still using the ancient method of the stone grinding to get extravirgin olive oil by cold pressure, traditional first-rate wineries, and finally local greengrocers. Since we try to household our guesthouse in the most ecological way and we are very fond of ecological building practices we like to share all this with everybody who is interested.
Energy saving: We are installing solar panels. We use only long-life/low-energy bulbs. The house is provided with double-glazed insulated windows. The efficiency rating of fridges and freezers, dishwasher and washing machine is A.
Water saving: Three bathrooms are fitted with dual-flash cistern. The forth has a brick inside to reduce water flow. Besides we have low flow aerators for taps and showers. We collect rainwater in a tank and use it for toilet flush and showers.
Recycling: We separate glass, paper, metal, plastic for recycling and use recycled paper for our printer, recycled paper napkins and toilet paper.
Minimizing waste: We compost all our organic wastes to produce humus and manure to re-use. We are vegetarians and we consume organic food from our own garden, watered from an underground rainwater tank, besides we cook lots of edible wild plants. We only drink tap water. We recover old and antique furniture we restore ourselves with traditional natural methods learnt from Michele in restoration school in Florence.
Construction: We have employed local craftsmen and builders and used locally available materials to build our house. All the walls of the original construction are 60 centimetres wide.

We invite every traveller who books a holiday via us to send in a review. Because we don't run the holidays they're completely independent and unedited... remember to read between the lines though, as two people on the same holiday can have different views!
