Tegucigalpa hotel accommodation, Honduras
How Tegucigalpa hotel accommodation, Honduras makes a difference
Environment
At Casa las Lomas we are about to enroll the program "Produccion Mas Limpia" P+L ("More Clean Production") were we will learn how to do a better use of water and energy, as well as to reduce our waste and recicle/reuse everything possible at the hotel. As part of our commitment we encourage our guest to turn off unused lights and reuse towels and linens. We believe in small actions like placing a "friendly reminder" to do turn off light and save water, can do a huge difference.
As per our bleaches, detergents and soaps, we carefully select those not harmful to our environment, reading labels of possible toxic components. We have chosen a provider of ammenities that are prove to be eco-friendly. Also, we keep a small garden were we plant local flora, our next project will be to do a small nursery to provide our guest with some samples of beautiful honduran flowers. We will enroll programs that help us to reduce/reuse/recicle waste in that way we will keep our environment clean and safe.
Community
We carefully select our suppliers, giving opportunities to those less know in the local market. We support our colleagues from the Small Hotel Association passing our guest if we are totally booked. We try to network as much as possible with other honduran business, recommending locally owned restaurants, coffee shops, etc. to our foreing guest.
As part of Central American Small Hotels, we take our neighbouring countries as part of our "big extended family" for that reason we keep a collection of brochures and other info, to provide with accurate information about local and international tours.
As far as promoting near by cultural attractions, we highly recommend tours to communities such asojojona, Valle de Angeles, Santa Lucia and San Juancito, we local artisans sell their products and offer good deals to our tourists.
As owners, we became involved with volunteering programs, such as "Tus manos Son Mis Manos" were a local community is selected to provide most of their inhabitants with food, medical supplies, clothes, medicines, shoes, etc.
Eventhough our employees are mainly family members, we offer very good working conditions, a fair wage, and we will empower them with training opportunities, looking for those provided by our local tourism chamber.
At Casa Las lomas, we lead the iniciative to introduce the best of honduran Coffee to our small hotels association, begging with ours. This is a very important project to us, since coffee is an industry that supports more that 110,000 families in Honduras.
