Czech Republic farmstay accommodation
The whole experience was hugely rewarding and relaxing. The place is beautiful and the hosts are so warm and welcoming. As soon as I got home, I couldn't wait to tell all my friends to go! (more)Laura Lane
The traditional barbecue Nick and Dasha have prepared to us with Czech sausages coming from local farmers was really great. Being at the fireplace outside each one of us learning how to get the sausages at their best, is still one of the remarkable moments of our holidays, even for Manuel (our 7 year old son). (more)Pedro Moiteiro
The skiing was a highlight – downhill at the resorts and Nick’s impromptu cross-country skiing lesson which was good enough to set us off on a 8km cross-country track the next day. Marvellous! (more)David O Connell

Gosh, difficult to say which part out of so many! I am reviewing the holiday five months later and still remember everything about our stay here. The delicious food and warm hospitality from the hosts, the beautiful scenery and the long walks will stay with me forever, I think. (more)Bill Reid
The kindness of our hosts, the nice balanced way they shared and included us in their individual enthusiasm and warmth, the pertinent information about local and Piemonte region, without coming too close were most memorable. Excellent holiday. (more)Anna Welsing
Whilst we have many very happy memories of our recent 5 weeks in Europe all involved voted that the week was 'the' most memorable. This was primarily a result of the passion that both Marla and Fabrizio bring to the running of the accommodation and to ensuring the comfort and enjoyment of their guests. Of course this professionalism is ably supported by the fantastic scenery and interesting history of the area. (more)Neal Dalgliesh

Memorable parts? We were intrigued to stay in a house made of straw bales and to see how recycling/ reuse can be put into practice and good effect.- we were not disappointed! We found the photo albums showing the building of the house really interesting. Tips? If intending to take a trip by train whilst there be aware that station car park can be very busy. Local benefits? We shopped locally, and found local residents / shop staff to be very helpful and friendly. Overall... (more)C Sharkey

Wonderfully appointed cottage that more than lived up to our expectations. Looking forward to visiting again I hope! (more)Norma Foster

Memorable parts? I thought my hosts were amazingly helpful. The house was lovely . There was lots to do in the local area and I loved the walking. Fiona and Gareth were on hand for advice and the emphasis on Sports was very interesting. Tips? I had my bag stolen in Girona. Memorable parts? The scenery was tremendous and the weather cooperated beautifully in May month. Snowdonia guesthouse & B&B
Memorable parts? The most memorable part was actually getting a rear wheel puncture down a lovely country lane and not being able to get the back wheel off to repair it! However, equally as memorable was the fantastic Welsh hospitality when a couple looked after our bikes while another lady - totally unknown to us - took us back to our accom to collect our car. Really friendly people! Tips? Be more prepared than we were!! We went on a cycling and walking weekend and thought we were... (more)Monica Stephens

Isle of Mull b&b accommodation, Scotland
Memorable parts? Making sure that I drove slowly enough NOT to drive into some of the sheep, cattle, deer that like to sit and ruminate on the roads! The glorious autumn sun on the turning leaves. Not New England, but very beautiful. Ambling along the white sandy beaches and having them to myself, more or less! Tips? Make sure that you add in travelling time from your accommodation to the ferry. Ensure that you don't have to get up at some awful, un-holiday like time of the morning... (more)Sonia Jones

Memorable parts? A totally chill-out experience - a comfortable, luxurious cabin in a well laid out garden - definitely stands out as a special place to stay. Located in lovely countryside with several options for walking locally. Martin and Sharon who built and run house are a lovely couple and really made us feel at home. The menu for those not wanting to cook, is imaginative and varied and our meal, shared with Martin and Sharon was excellent. We visited when there was snow on the ground... (more)Graham Dalby

Our stay was wonderful. Nothing was too much trouble for the owners, David and Jackie. From the welcoming tea and biscuits on arrival, to our departure, all was everything you could possibly wish for. The setting is absolutely stunning, with views over the owners farmland. The accommodation is spotless, and it obvious from the many nice touches, that a lot of thought and effort has gone into every aspect of this very personal B&B. (more)Peter Carney

Memorable parts? Everything! We loved being surrounded by historic French villages; staying in a beautiful rustic (but VERY comfortable) 19th century stone cottage; the warmth and approachability of our hosts Nicole and Alex Crawford; and being spoilt for choice when arranging our daily activities. Cyprus hotel accommodation in Lysos
Memorable parts? This is a wonderful hotel. It is a small hotel but run very efficiently and we most enjoyed our time there. There were always free loungers by the pool and although there were a number of guests we often had the pool to ourselves. It was the best pool I have used for a few years. The most memorable part of our stay were the evening meals which were buffet style but of excellent quality providing an opportunity to taste different dishes. Tips? Book half board if... (more)Linda Scott
From €71 - €150 per double room per night
Periyar Tiger Reserve homestay accommodation, India
Memorable parts? All the wildlife but particularly the bamboo rafting and trekking combination. Watching a great hornbill soar over the tree tops was truly magical. Tips? Be open minded and don't automatically expect to see any wildlife! There is simply no comparison with, say, private game reserves in South Africa. There you are almost guaranteed to see creatures, but in a slightly contrived way. It is almost impossible to believe that huge elephants can become effectively invisible,... (more)Kate Tudor
From £40 per room per night (sleeps 2)
Hungary self catering accommodation, Aggtelek NP
Seeing the storks in the fields and on specially built nest platforms; the large size of the property we were staying in; the fact that we seemed to be the only tourists there; and the public swimming pool at Karsinkabarca...Wonderful - would do it again - and that says something coming from us. (more)David Plowman
The most memorable parts were the surrounding countryside; relaxing at the cottage and the garden; the caves; our walks (especially walking to Slovakia); trying to pronounce our shopping list in Hungarian; butterflies and wild flowers in the meadow... (more)Teresa Mikalauskas

Herefordshire self catering accommodation
The Hermitage is a wonderful location for a holiday, the accommodation is extremely comfortable and there are lots of little touches that make it special. It is the kind of place you can visit at any time of year. (more)Bridget Ashley
We would like to go back in the summer and make use of increased daylight. The children loved it. They could romp in the woods safely - as the crow flies they were very close to the house, yet they felt as though they were in the wilds. (more)Alyson Telfer
The accommodation was superb with great views and lovely countryside right on your doorstep to explore. (more)Kirstin Goodwin
From £295 - £645 per cottage per week (sleeps 2-6)

Just to say the farm is a real gem. We were only there for 2 nights so not a lot to report - just that it's a real quality place set amidst beautiful walking country - just the place for a quiet retreat with excellent eating places. (more)Liz Rollinson

Isle of Skye guest house and activity centre, Scotland
Memorable parts? Walking the fabulous Quirang loop trail. Tips? Leave enough time for driving the single track roads on beautiful Skye. Getting around takes longer than you'd think from the map. Local benefits? The b and b owners are careful with resources. Overall rating? I'd happily go back to Skye for more walking (and eating - the quality of the restaurants in Breakish and Carbost surprised us). (more)Jennifer Duschenes
From £30 - £37.50 per person per night
Le Mont-Dore holiday apartments, France
Memorable parts? The 6th Vulcanic Blues festival in Mont Dore was fantastic. It meant that we walked in the mountains every day and listened to great music every evening - sometimes morning and afternoon too! Couldn't recommend both the walking and the festival enough - they also have 2 other festivals so check them out too. One in July and one during the ski season I think. It made a lovely break to be somewhere remote and having a really social time - out after midnight! Tips? The... (more)Candy McLeavy
