The highlight of my trip was the Jalore Wildlife Sanctuary. I was welcome by the owners of the land and taken around on night safaris by the son Ravindra.

We find it hard to pull out one memorable part of our 3 days with Rajat and family at their wonderful home in the Nilgiri Hills. I think though if we had to pick one thing it would be the extraordinary warmth, hospitality and kindness bestowed on us by the family from the moment we stepped out of the car. We were made to feel like long-lost family or best friends.

The most memorable part of my holiday was being in such a calm, peaceful and gentle environment and experiencing the culture of a country that was completely different to that in the UK. Just as memorable was the kind and giving nature of the family who accommodated me.

All of it was memorable starting with driving up to the beautiful location, being welcomed by host Jos, who was incredibly kind and helpful, relaxing in the palms overlooking the water, and taking the interesting side trips that Jos set up for me.

This accommodation is a visually beautiful Portuguese villa, traditionally furnished in Portuguese style with enormous, high-ceilinged rooms in lush, well-kept gardens. It is perfect for anybody who is happy to make their own enjoyment.

The family is welcoming and took great care of us. Neema is a great cook and gave us plenty advice on where to go.

Our tiger sightings (5 in 3 days at Kanha) were amazing. Peering through the edge of the forest to see a tiger looking back at you only a few metres away is something you won't forget... I'm absolutely sold on India and plan to go back.

The most memorable parts were all the wildlife but particularly the bamboo rafting and trekking combination. Watching a great hornbill soar over the tree tops was truly magical.

Sitting on the water's edge watching the boats go by in front of the house was wonderful. Similarly being quietly rowed through the backwaters in a small canoe, seeing the life of the local (human and animal!) residents was truly memorable.

Jonny, Ansi and Shaden have been EXTREMELY nice and it was an unforgettable stay. Moreover the food was excellent and the room beautiful, very clean and huge.

A wonderful experience for families; the hospitality was so genuinely warm and caring; the wildlife wonderful, and an excellent way of getting some idea on how 1/6 of the world's population lives.

There are so many wonderful memories that I will hold dear in my heart, it is hard to choose one. I remember the peaceful quiet of morning sitting in the kitchen drinking fresh chai.

The most memorable parts were enjoying cooking lessons with a bat flying over head. Scrubbing baby elephants clean with a coconut shell. Eating the most amazing food in a cosy family atmosphere.

The most enjoyable part of my holiday was the ayurvedic treatments that I had. The staff at the resort were also so nice, they couldn't do enough for you and always had a smile on their faces.

For solo travellers or family adventurers, small group holidays are an excellent way to see any country. We sent Jerrine, one of our helpdesk experts, on a group adventure in India to see first hand what a group holiday is all about. "Having always travelled independently on my globe trekking adventures I was curious to see how a small group adventure would compare. India has always been high on my must-do places to visit so I was delighted to take up the challenge. Here´s a little bit about my adventures and what a small group holiday is really like...
Always happy when the flight is over, but usually apprehensive about tackling the language barriers and over-zealous taxi drivers I was more than happy to be greeted with a smile by an Exodus representative. I was soon whisked off to the hotel where I met what was to be my new family for the next 8 days. . Read more about Jerrine's adventure in India in this India article.
