Lanzarote villa accommodation, Canary Islands
Memorable parts? Going on a day trip to a remote island organised by owner Tila and swimming on an empty beach. Tips? Definitely rent a car and try arrive in day light as roads signs easily missed in dark Local benefits? Yes - completely. Overall rating? Excellent, cheap and cheerful, direct flights, lots to do...brilliant family holiday would have been equally good for a couple or friends. (more)Zara Stassin
From €1540 - €2065 per villa per week (sleeps 6)
Tenerife villa holiday, sleeping 4 people
The house and environment was fabulous! Wonderful nature! A way from everything! Very nice people and nice for our children. (more)mathilde geens
The beautiful view from our balcony, out to the sea one way and up to the mountains in the other direction...A fantastic, relaxing, family holiday a world away from the stereotypical family Tenerife holiday that you might find on the south of the island! (more)Kristina Roe
The beautiful setting and 'local' feel of the place. The owners of the finca were extremely pleasant and created a very relaxed homely feel to the holiday. The accommodation - 'The Stonehouse' was unique and quaint. (more)Jenny Marshall
From €50 - €100 per villa per night (sleeps 4)
Family holiday cottages in Andalucia, Spain
This is a really beautiful part of Spain as its all hills and valleys...visiting the Alhambra was the most memorable part of the holiday. (more)kay scoresby
The beautiful views from the apartment and balcony were most memorable. An excellent family holiday in a beautiful location. (more)Sara Morris
We really had a memorable and fantastic break. Opportunity to relax completely and to enjoy the pool, view and good balance of self catering and using the excellent restaurant. (more)Charlotte Gibb
From €95 - €125 per house per night
Cirali villa holiday in Turkey
It's not many places you go to and it feels like home. This villa is one of them. We had 3 children under 6 and they loved every bit of the stay. We all were made to feel so welcome and Serpil and her family are so warm and lovely. The orange blossom fragrance, the walks to the beach and ruins and the home cooked meals - lots of special memories! (more)chitra nagarajaiah
The highlight of our holiday was the spacious and very comfortable two bedroom traditional stone house where we stayed with its elegant and tasteful decor. The house is set in a beautiful garden with all kinds of citrus and fruit trees and an array of chickens, chicks and cockerels running about freely to our two year old son’s delight. (more)Deborah Sigsgaard Fruchter
The most memorable part: Laying in my hammock in the gardens. It was a great place to stay...We had cherry schnapps made from dark cherries picked from the garden. Lemonade made with fresh lemons from the tree. The food was very good. A lovely location. (more)Karan Chadha
From £700 - £1030 per couple per week
Cyprus traditional villa accommodation
Memorable parts? Tochni was one of the most beautiful villages in the area. It suited us because it was very quiet. Renovating old buildings provides an immediate atmosphere to the holiday and is much better than staying in a new apartment. Tips? It is centrally located, but you still have to be prepared to travel if you want to make the most of the holiday. Local benefits? Yes it did benefit local people, and in the respect of renovating old buildings it did minimize the... (more)John Williams
From €60 - €100 per villa per night (sleeps 2)
Ephesus holiday cottages, Turkey
We had a really enjoyable holiday. It is easy to get a sense of the enormous richness of Turkish , and more ancient history. The accommodation really is beautiful and the welcome very warm. (more)Peter Jones
We had a lovely time. Our stay was really fantastic. Our hosts could not have been more welcoming and as I said the food was absolutely delicious. (more)Andrew Horton
Wonderful. The house was characterful and peaceful (for us, no tv was a definite bonus), the local people were extremely friendly and gave us a chance to practice our extremely sparse turkish and gave our children a taste of local culture... the food was great. A definite winner. (more)Sharon Mckenna
From £125 - £140 per cottage per night
Naxos holiday accommodation, villa and B&B, Greece
We stayed with Gilly as bed and breakfast guests for a week in early May this year and I thought I must write to say how friendly and welcoming Gilly and Robin were. They gave us a delicious breakfast each morning and made our stay very special by giving us lots of excellent information on exploring Naxos and tips on tavernas to eat at. Our apartment was very thoughtfully decorated and equipped, the rooms light, pretty and tasteful, in a simple Greek style but with personal touches and everything... (more)Kate Hay

Watching the sunset from the terrace of my room. Excellent view, great location., good local food. (more)Georgina Alexander
Excellent. A really relaxing break - I hope to make a return trip. Very encouraging to see a smaller-scale family hotel; well-organised, clean, comfortable, friendly and beautiful, with a positive impact on its local environment. (more)Judy Powell

Villa holiday in Kas, Turkey
A Fabulous rest in a beautiful setting, but still always something to do if you wanted. (more)jane edwards
We rented a house so the most memorable part was arriving and finding a lovely place that was ours for a week. The house is very well equipped, comfortable, with a beautiful garden, access to the sea and a nice (shared) swimming pool. (more)Elizabeth Caird
The beautiful views from the top floor of the villa, a days sailing and snorkelling and just being in such a relaxing location always close to the sea. The little Mediterranean garden attached to the villa, with lemon trees and path to the sea was a real treat and obviously well looked after. (more)Liz Skinner
From £450 - £1200 per villa per week
Holiday cottages in Andalucia, Spain, sleeps 2
Memorable parts? Exploring Spain with my two children and seeing them learn to swim in the pool with the most amazing views. Finding Cantueso up in the mountains! It is a stunning location, great accommodation and the restaurant was such good value for money plus being dairy and gluten intolerant, they catered for me. Tips? Be prepared to drive up some steep and winding roads for the last 15 mins of the journey. You need a hire car for this holiday even though it is only an hour from... (more)Sophie Kramhψft
From €65 - €85 per house per night
Amalfi Coast self catering accommodation, Italy
The most memorable part was the very warm welcome at the villa and their attitude that nothing is too much trouble. Edith and her family have created a very special place to stay which worked for our family group ranging in age from 18 to 60! (more)Katie Lee
The beautiful surroundings and wonderful hospitality on Ischia were most memorable, and a trip to pompei for a walking tour is a must. (more)Samantha Howson
The most memorable part of the holiday was looking at the views from the balcony & the roof & visiting Pompeii. (more)Francesca Jarvis
From €300 - €770 per apartment per night (sleeps 4)
Dubrovnik villa holidays, Croatia
Memorable parts? The Views from the Villa are stunning! Tips? Not suitable for people who find it difficult to walk up steep hills. The set meal (3 courses with wine) at the Konoba Asterea- Mlini for 85 kuna is extremely good value and well worth the trek up the hill. Local benefits? It definitely benefited local people, as the owner moves out of her home for 4 months of the year in order to repay her mortgage on the Villa. As for the environmental impact, I find it difficult... (more)Daniel Deja
From €110 - €180 per accommodation
Lanzarote villa holiday, Fishermans Cottage, Canary Islands
Memorable parts? Arriving at Fisherman’s Cottage and seeing the wonderful location. Tips? It's not a holiday destination for clubbers. If you want a few days relaxation by the sea come to fisherman’s cottage. Local benefits? We shopped in the local supermarket and ate out locally. The cottage was totally solar powered with 'green' loos. So yes to both. Overall rating? 10 out of 10. It was so much better than I expected. Jill and Maria were both lovely and friendly.... From €665 - €875 per week (sleeps 4)
Villa holiday nr Dalaman, Turkey
We chose to hire a boat to ourselves (with the help of Bulent) and enjoyed a wonderful day with the skipper and our cross-dressing, belly dancing cook and were able to choose where we went and when. Another superb trip took us into the mountains to eat at a restaurant literally built over the river where it was cool and lush. (more)Ken Davies
This was a fantastic day where we were taken around a bay by Captain Halil, we swam in the clear sea and his mother cooked us a lunch of freshly caught fish and kebabs. Fantastic! So much to do in this area of Turkey. (more)Jennifer Francis
From £500 - £600 per week
Villa holiday in Crete, Greece
Memorable parts? I went on holidays with my 96-year-old mother, which is memorable in itself... At the last minute she had some health problems so it seemed we had to cancel the holiday but she was so keen to go! And we had a great time. Tips? Get a car to go around, the place is unreachable otherwise and not easy to find if not with very clear directions; by night almost impossible. Local benefits? The environmental impact is definitely low, no air-conditioning and solar... (more)Laura Palmucci
From €24 - €70 per room per night
Villa holiday in Sicily, Italy
Memorable parts? Arriving, meeting Carmelina and the friendliness of the local people. Beautiful location. Tips? Check on the inventory thoroughly before booking. Local benefits? Yes - The local community benefited from increased spending at the local shop and restaurant. Impact on the environment was quite high due to vehicle usage - accomm 4 km away from nearest village. Overall rating? Good location for accommodation but spoilt by poor equipment – air conditioning/kitchen... (more)Geoff Neal
From €720 - €2100 per villa per week (sleeps 6)
Eco hotel and villa accommodation in Crete
Memorable parts? Having enjoyed two weeks travelling around Crete, we spent the last three nights of our holiday at the villa high in the mountains, overlooking rugged countryside with views down to the sea. To find such wonderful accommodation in so rural a location was quite amazing. Our villa was a very well designed, spotlessly clean, spacious house. The owner, Smaro Mourtzanakis was a most gracious hostess - her casserole was the best meal my husband ate throughout the trip! Tips? Having... (more)Ada Bradbury
From €70 - €95 per villa per night (sleeps 4)
Zakynthos holiday accommodation in Greece
Memorable parts? Where to start......we were staying at Logothetis with our 3 yr old daughter so we could have been a bit restricted in activities, but the mountain bikes had a child seat so we were able to take her off road and to the beach and she loved those bumpy rides. Swimming in the sea - calm enough for her to gain confidence and learn to swim and sandy enough for sand castles when she was tired. Boat trip with Mario - an enjoyable day snorkelling and learning about turtles. Of course... (more)lynn irving
From €315 - €1750 per week
Udon Thani accommodation in Thailand
The trip was memorable because it was so relaxing and we were thoroughly taken care of in the most serene surroundings. The villa itself was beautiful; the beds comfortable; the ac very effective and the food and drink plentiful and delicious. (more)Terry Forbes-Mitchell
My husband and I absolutely loved the villa and have nothing but praise for the wonderful setting, the people - Ten, Euwang and the ladies who cooked fabulous food for us and made us feel really welcome. (more)Geraldine O
Pick up at the airport as promised and whisked through the darkness to a fantastic, isolated villa, with the sounds of crickets and insects only for nightlife. Not a neon light or disco within many tens of miles. A stunning horizon pool beautifully surrounded by the villa and acres of grounds to explore. (more)David Easton
From Baht6800 - Baht8900 per villa per night (sleeps 6)
Beach villa in Izmir, Turkey
We really enjoyed exploring the area, visiting Pergammon and other sights and trying out the restaurants in Dikili. Also the kindness and hospitality of the Turkish people we met was a lovely surprise. (more)Deirdre Dowling
The most memorable part was finding the beaches deserted, the hotel we used almost deserted and therefore having all the facilities to ourselves, seeing the sites in Cappadocia. (more)Catherine Mukhopadhyay
The most memorable part of the stay was meeting the owner's family. They were extremely charming and hospitable. The villa is beautifully furnished and there is a pretty garden and terrace where you can lose an evening enjoying a bottle of wine. (more)Sam Lafferty
From £270 - £495 per accommodation per week (sleeps 4)
Ikaria Island holiday, organic farmstay villas in Greece
Overall we would rate our holiday 10 out of 10 and fully intend to visit again in the spring, when the wild flowers are blooming. The vineyard is one of the nicest places we have stayed - just what we needed after a stressful year in our business. (more)Helen Maggs
The highlight was the welcoming nature of our host family who shared with us not only their beautifully and painstakingly restored property with its breathtaking view of their terraced vineyard, but also their time, thoughts, knowledge, skills and family fun. (more)Lee Anne Wallach
We were attentively looked after by our hosts, Giorgos & Eleni. They took us to a village festival on the island, Ikaria, and our 17 year old daughter joined the dancing in the village square until 6 in the morning. (more)Gabriel Irwin
From €50 - €90 per house per night
Self catering beach house in Brazil
Memorable parts? An unexpected but totally delightful encounter with a sea cow in the shallows off the beach. He nibbled my toes and allowed me to stroke him. Magical! They are very friendly characters, vulnerable to extinction. A project near the house to support sea cow conservation is a must see. Tips? If you're looking for nightlife, don't visit! The only nightlife here is nature. Travel light. Swim, snorkel, relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. A decent phrase book is... (more)Beverley Whatford
From £50 - £150 per house per night
Uzumlu villlage self catering villa with pool, Turkey
Memorable parts? The Villa in Uzumlu was absolutely stunning and the surrounding area really beautiful - the sea water was so warm and so turquoise that it almost seemed unreal. Tips? The beach at Oludeniz is definitely worth a visit even though quite touristy but set up camp on the sea side rather than the lagoon side - it's far more quiet and just as picturesque. We found late July just a bit too hot during the day and even at night so next time would go earlier (or much later)... (more)Annie Clemenger
From £1550 - £1875 per week (sleeps 12)
Villa accommodation in Cyprus, sleeps 6
