Hi Alisson,

If you wanted to trek up to Machu Piccu then you need to have a permit. Only a certain number of these are available, especially if you wanted to do the Inca Trail (only 500 issued per day, to include porters), and i'm pretty sure these are all issued to tour companies so you would need to travel with a company to do the Inca Trail. The Inca Trail is very popular so booking at least 3 months in advance is essentual.

If you didn't want to trek up to Machu Piccu then you could go up there by train - you can do this independantly. Or I think there are bus services too from Aguas Calientes. It gets very busy during the day so you do well to arrive as early as possible.

I hope that helps?

A few tips for you.
Make sure you confirm (in writing) how much time you get in the sanctuary, most people get the train back to Cuzco in the afternoon so you need to be on one of the later running trains to get maximum time in the sanctuary , or you could stay the night in Aguas Calientes. I would strongly recommend the climb up
Huayna Picchu , you will need an absolute minimum of an hour for this. Make sure you have a good sleeping bag , it can get pretty cold in the high camps. Unless you are super fit I would say it's worth spending the relatively small sum to get a porter to carry your kit bag , they are (officialy) limited to 15kg .
Hope you enjoy it
Donald
