I travel to eat, mostly. When I go abroad, I like to immerse myself in the cuisine, the smells and tastes of a country - i'm slowly building up a repertoire of recipes from the places I visit. I lived for four years in Italy, both Florence and Rome and travelled extensively. I adore Italian regional cuisine which you can read about on my blog [web link] . My current project is to travel all 50 states in the USA, no matter how many years it takes me (say, a state a year, or something...), I want to meet people who are passionate about sharing their homes, traditions, quirky local knowledge, folklore, tales, food and opinions with me. Other places I want to visit are The Faroe Islands, the Scottish Isles, New Zealand, Polynesia and West Africa. One of the greatest places I've ever been to is New York for the surreal experience the city offers, especially to someone who's seen it and loved it in so many films and as such a cultural icon. Another would have to be the Devonshire and Cornish countryside in spring and summer, great surfing, rolling gentle green hills, absolute tranquility and excellent country pub food.
