Favourite places are Calabash Cove in St Lucia - brainchild of Austrian hotelier Robert Buchsbaum, set on west coast with stunning views across the bay - either swim-up rooms or cottages with private plunge pool - South Africa - the Cape and the winelands in particular but KwaZulu Natal has won my heart too. Hotel gems include Rodwell House in St James just outside Cape Town. Fabulous ski holidays at Chalet Des Etoiles in LeBiot just outside Morzine (www.alpine2mine.com)..
