| Kenya - on to Lamu Island Posted 19 Jul 2008 by Lyn  Flew back to Nairobi then cuaght another small plane to Lamu island. Stayed at the northern end of island which is much quieter and remote than Lamu Town, Shella etc. it was very peaceful and relaxing - very little to do but sunbath, swim and relax - perfect after a busy week on safari! |

| Kenya - On to Maasai Mara Posted 17 Jul 2008 by Lyn  Driven back to Nairobi again... had we know the roads are so bad would have arrangee to fly back! Have lunch at Carnivore restuarant (not much cop really) and then on to Wilson Airport to fly to the Mara. Arrive in a thunderstorm and get totally drenched getting out of plane and into the jeep! Camp is smaller than in Amboslei but lovelly and the staff are very friendly. Our Guide Gorden is fab!...more... |
| Kenya - Amboseli safari Posted 16 Jul 2008 by Lyn  After a visit to the local maasai village late yesterday afternoon, we had a lovelly sundowner and an early night, but only after some fabulous food especially the pecan tart!Early up and out for our first full day on safari. | Kenya - on to Amboseli Posted 15 Jul 2008 by Lyn  We took 4hrs in a our car to get to Amboseli. The African massage is free (given the roads are really bad!) Was good to see Kenya as we passed through villages and towns. A few toilet stop were interesting (note to self: always have your own loo paper with you!) |
| Kenya - Day in Narobi Posted 14 Jul 2008 by Lyn we tuck into a buffet lunch as you do when we hear a car back fire, and again, again... no this is fireworks says my mate... but as we look around the hotel, the gates are being locked and staff are hiding behind tables ! ah - so no fireworks then at 10am .. its a shot out outside the hotel as the police have uncovered a plot to raid the casino next door! | Kenya - arrival day Posted 13 Jul 2008 by Lyn  arrived safely having being upgraded by BA (it is good to have friends in BA!) Our operator collected from airport and dropped us at hotel.. have to say a bit disappointed in weather in Nairobi- colder than UK .. but then I learn it is their winter!
