| Wintry Lewes and Birds of Prey Posted 03 Feb 2009 by Justin Francis Yesterday we had the biggest 'snow event' (why can't the forecasters just call it a snow storm?) for many a year in the UK. All the trains and buses were cancelled and I worked from home. At lunchtime I went for a walk in the Nature Reserve just 60m from my house. | Brighton Allotment - The first growing beds Posted 01 Jul 2008 by Lyn After digging up loads of brambles etc, we managed to get some old scaffold planks and make a few sort of raised beds. The soil is crap... but potatoes grow in anything right?!!! and the spinach doesnt mind too much either.The fruit cage (made of builders anti-climb fencing - it helps to know owners of building companies!!!) is ideal for protecting strawberries from the fat pigeons!
