I have written three books on India - India: The Peacock's Call, India: The Tiger's Roar and India: The Elephant's Blessing which have all been published within the last six years. The Peacock's Call has just been republished with an additional Part II. My non commercial website promoting India is www.thepeacockscall.co.uk and my photo galleries on India, Scotland and South Africa are on [web link] India is the Land of my birth and I go back annually for a month to enjoy and experience this wonderful land with all her beauty and her challenges. Graham my husband and I travel independently and because I speak Hindi (from my childhood years) we are lucky enough to have some rather special experiences. I have tried to promote the whole of India but I was awed by Hampi in Karnataka and feel too few people know about it, and I love being in out of the way places in Rajasthan. My favourite Indian city is Delhi but followed by Hyderabad. I made a pilgrimage to The Ganga earlier this year and visited homes and places I had not seen for exactly 50 years! It was a happy fulfilling experience. I plan to return to India in January and think Indians need our support at a very challenging time. I am committed to try to help save the tiger which I consider the most magnificent of animals and I have been fortunate enough to see quite a few.

I played the corporate game for a while, but found myself spending more time planning holidays than I was on my PowerPoint presentations. Fortunately, I had the opportunity to leave it behind and try something new for a while.

I have been living in and around the Middle East for almost five years, involving myself in Arabic language studies, non-government work, and tourism (both being a tourist and leading tours).

I am the founder of Backpacker Concierge ([web link], a travel consultancy based in Egypt and am passionate about the region I have chosen to live in and am excited to share it with you all.

I work on the helpdesk for responsibletravel.com and must say that i'm more than a little bit obsessed with travel. I normally have at least 3 or 4 holidays in the planning stage at any one time, whether i actually go on any of them is a different matter!

I like to get off the beaten track as much as possible these days try and incorporate some kind of activity in my holidays, whether it be scuba diving (I went on a cavern dive in mexico last year - wow!), kayaking or something involving wildlife. I'm always interested in any unusual holidays. I've currently got my eye on a horse riding holiday in Mongolia - i guess i'll need to learn how to ride first!

My favourite style of travel is volunteering. I've been lucky enough to particate in 3 long volunteering trips in my lifetime. My first was working on an elephant sanctuary in Malaysia, the next was a conservation/teaching and community project in Tsavo NP Kenya, and i've just come back from a marine conservation diving trip in the Philippines.

If anyone has any general questions on volunteering or would like some advice please do get in touch. I love talking about travel so any excuse to whittle on is appreciated!

I have been an expat. in the Middle East for almost 20 years so I do enjoy travelling every chance I get. As of recent, I enjoy travel that gives something back to the communities that I travel in -- usually in areas that are not commonly traveled by tourists. Three places that I am looking forward to visiting are Borneo, Nepal and Bhutan.

I am a bit of a travel-holic.. Growing up I lived in over 10 countries, mainly in the middle east - this, I guess is where my passion began! The greatest place I have ever been to has to be Jerusalum and Zanzibar....

My husband and I enjoyed traveling independent to most countries while we were ex-pats in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. We traveled from Bangkok to Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam on our own, traveling mostly by bus and walking a lot in the cities. One of our greatest adventures, however, was traveling with our son and a group on the train from Beijing to Mongolia and Moscow, then onto St. Petersburg by ourselves. We had traveled by bus tour from Helsinki to St. Petersburg and Moscow the year before.
