1 retired last August from the Civil Service, ( spent the last 20 years in the Housing dept). I do enjoy travelling either with groups / or independently. I travelled to Peru by myself in March of this year, as some one else said in the past, the place is "awesome". Visited Cusco /MP etc. Am looking to travel by train from St. Petersburg- Beijing in 2010

I think my love for travel comes from a passion for social politics and an experience of difference, and a woefully short attention span that renders me constantly (if not physically!) nomadic! As such, my appreciation for travel satisfies an opportunity to learn something new, whether that's simply a new perspective, or a completely different way of life.

Since coming to work for responsibletravel.com I've been able to turn my vicarious nomadism to a whole new range of prospective destinations! Having confined my travels to predominantly Euro-American cultures so far, I'd like to get out of my comfort zone and try something more challenging in the near future. Any suggestions? Answers on an e-card...

My favourite place at the moment (it changes almost daily)! is New York..I also love any beach and the snow... i have a passion for good food..The best meal i ever had was a lobster caught and cooked on a boat in cuba...I love to scare myself in the sea...be it on a board or on reefs diving and i would love to learn to sail..and i have big fascination for sharks..i met a few in the Barrier Reef! I have a burning urge to get close to some BIG bears, wolves, manatees, and flamingos...oh, and i really really want to drive from Boston to Key West, stopping off all the way!

I like big empty spaces, the desert and the mountains and i'm very happy to rough it. I like to travel light. Travel for me is all about the people, mind bending scenery, funny smells, spotting new creatures, being shaken up, learning, having my old ways of thinking challenged..... and delicious food!! Equally, sometimes you just want to get hammered and eat ice cream for breakfast on the beach!

I work for responsibletravel.com and love travel and would like to travel more but the usual restraints of time and money hold me back a bit! This is actually a mixed blessing and has helped me to discover that there are so many great places to see in the UK! I also really love British wildlife: it’s not quite as iconic as the big five but you have to admire British wildlife for surviving so long, despite all the attempts to kill it off!

Travel, for me, is about taking things in. I like to travel slowly. The slower you travel the more time you have to take things in. Travel and thinking is the best combination I know, travelthinking is what I would call it if it needed a name. Plus you travel responsibly when you think about how you travel and that is the only way to go for me, especially now I work for responsibletravel.com!

Just being immersed in the World... long enough to really feel part of it.
I grew up in France... for 19 years... then discovered the World alone always working abroad : 3 months in Scotland, 3 months in California, 5 months in London, 3 months in New York, then again 5 months in New York, 9 months in Montréal, 1 month in Madrid, 3 months in Dorset, UK, 3 years in Dublin, 7 years in Montréal (a few more other weeks in Morocco, Mauritania, Andalucia, England, Scotland, Canada...)
Now I plan to do a linguistic 2-3 months trip in Russia and to start some humanitarian trip planning.
