I am a grandmother of four and have travelled independently to many countries since retiring but for the past 4 years I have been returning to Uganda
I have helped a small community in the south west Uganda to open a Guest House that is suitable for volunteers to stay awhile - and then help in the local schools, our own nursery school and with womens groups in the area.
I am now actively looking for volunteers to go out there - and be sure that any money they spend - either at the Lodge (£50 per week for full board & accommodation) will stay within and ultimately help that community

I love travelling around the world and learning about new cultures. My dream was to visit Southeast Asia and after postponing that trip twice I managed to do it during 2008, a 3-months trip that I loved. While I was travelling around Laos I did some responsible tours and realised I have always been a responsible traveller without knowing it!
I have always enjoyed visiting social programmes, charities, and environmental projects during my trips, trying to get to the authentic locals and avoiding the most touristic places.
When I returned to Argentina, I decided to start organising responsible travel experiences in Buenos Aires for those who enjoy getting involved with the locals as I do when I travel.

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.... Mark Twain

Travelling for me is like breathing. I can’t imagine life without it. Even when I’m not travelling I’m planning my next journey into uncharted territory.

I'm from Trinidad but have spent two of the last three years in South America learning Spanish and wine tasting. Now, I'm home again writing about my travels. Anything you need to know about my twin island Republic, just ask. This is the island that created a musical instrument from oil drums

Hi there. I've worked as a freelance journalist for the past seven years, which has allowed me to travel all over the world by myself, writing and taking pictures of all the interesting things I see. I've pretty much travelled solo since I was 16, reckoning it to be the best way of meeting people and having the most adventures. Travelling alone can be both exhausting and daunting because there's nobody to act as a buffer between you and the world around you, or pick you up after a hard day. Or help to make decisions... (I'm rubbish at making decisions.) But on the flip side, everything that happens to you is you're own doing, and you can direct it however and wherever you want. You can please yourself. And you learn a great deal and have heaps of fun in the process. At the moment, I can't seem to get enough of South Africa, New York, Cambodia and Nepal. But I'd really love to visit Japan, Norway, Mali and India.
