I played the corporate game for a while, but found myself spending more time planning holidays than I was on my PowerPoint presentations. Fortunately, I had the opportunity to leave it behind and try something new for a while.

I have been living in and around the Middle East for almost five years, involving myself in Arabic language studies, non-government work, and tourism (both being a tourist and leading tours).

I am the founder of Backpacker Concierge ([web link], a travel consultancy based in Egypt and am passionate about the region I have chosen to live in and am excited to share it with you all.

I work in community based tourism in Ethiopia, and have done guiding to different parts of the country. I spent 5 years backpacking round parts of the globe and fell in love with Ethiopia then.

When younger, I was all about roughing it. Now that I have a few more years in me, I still like going down the unbeaten path but am not as interested in hostels, backpacking, etc.

I'm mostly interested in socially conscious travel and that's what I write about on my blog: [web link]

Places I've loved include: Monteverde, Costa Rica, Italy, San Pedro de Atacama, Chile and many more!

I am a paediatric endocrinologist, semi-retired. I travel extensively, writing articles for up-market glossies. Member of ITWPA and American Travel Writers' Bureau. Love life, love most people, and am especially susceptible, as one would expect, to the plight of children in third world countries.
I would love to hear from people who feel similarly. Thanks
I love travelling to South Africa, can never tire of the space, the vividness of the colours, the contrasts... I love the Caribbean, equally for the colour and contrast of life on the islands. I love train journies, and hope to take an inaugural trip on a new train in India during this September.

I love to travel to places that are still (relatively) untouched by mass tourism, hidden gems, whether these are close or far away. 'Feel' the places I visit, mingle with the local community, immerse in their history and their culture.
Dream places to visit ? Oh, so many. But mainly - and to start with - South Africa, Vietnam, Laos & Camboia, Lybia, Mali & Burkina Faso, Rwanda, Peru, Equador, Tibet, etc. etc...
