As the traveler who has once been from home is wiser than he who has never left his own doorstep, so a knowledge of one other culture should sharpen our ability to scrutinize more steadily, to appreciate more lovingly our own. Traveling is not Just seeing the new; It is also about leaving behind. Not Just Opening Doors; also closing them behind you, Never to return. But the place you have left forever is always there for you to see whenever you shut your eyes.

We are all travelers in the wilderness of this world, and the best we can find in our travels is an honest friend

My favourite place at the moment (it changes almost daily)! is New York..I also love any beach and the snow... i have a passion for good food..The best meal i ever had was a lobster caught and cooked on a boat in cuba...I love to scare myself in the sea...be it on a board or on reefs diving and i would love to learn to sail..and i have big fascination for sharks..i met a few in the Barrier Reef! I have a burning urge to get close to some BIG bears, wolves, manatees, and flamingos...oh, and i really really want to drive from Boston to Key West, stopping off all the way!

I love to travel and now I am (early) retired can do more of it.
Mostly "do my own thing" rather than going with a group. For years I have always taken a Travel Log to write a daily dairy to accompany my many photographs and to jog my memory.
Most interesting place to date - Penang, Malaysia where I was lucky enough to meet an English man who had lived there for many years and spoke the language - he became my unofficial guide introducing me to the night food markets in Georgetown and The English Club for ex-pats.
My last trip was to Cuba in 15 November with The Adventure Company. Keen to get there before Castro moved on and so pleased I visited this country. Have posted a couple of Tips on currency and Sanitation on this site and will add more thoughts on the place itself shortly.
I want to go to Castries, St Lucia to research some family history and not for a Sandals holiday and, for the same reason, St John's New Brunswick. Any news from independant travellers to these areas, particulary to Castries, would be very welcome.

Have enjoyed exotic beach holidays when childfree. Since having two children have been back to India but also really enjoy camping and Rv-ing. Have been to Ireland and Canada in an RV, fantastic scenery and complete freedom, as well as all the things you need for the kids travelling with you.

Anything that is NOT an all inclusive package deal and Ill be interested. I've been to New Zealand and East coast Oz & Tasmania just backpacking but recently decided I wanted to do something a bit more involved and did a GVI conservation trip to the Amazon rainforest in Ecuador for 2.5 months which was amazing and satisfied my love of wildlife and photography. To top this trip I also went to Galapagos and Peru to do the Inca trail! now dreaming of next adventures (once I have paid off the last one!)

PR Manager for Innovation Norway UK, promoting Norway as the great getaway as it is..powered by Nature with magnificent sights such as the Northern Lights, the Midnight Sun, Fjords and Mountains. My own favourite activity in Norway is snowkiting, trekking and anything that combines the outdoors with fun activities. My dreamplace to visit in 2009 is Juvet Landscape Hotel, www.juvet.com . Have a look for yourself!

I'm a Canadian writer, living in Mexico for sixteen years. My idea for the perfect way to travel is to plunk myself down in a country for a couple of years and explore it from within.

Enjoy leisure travelling especially to Ireland, but also Canada and USA.
Main reasons for travelling: experience indigenous cultures, cultural exchange, active nature experiences, music, litterature, history and social science, etc.
Lifetime project to develop and to balance Body, Mind & Spirit - i.e. broaden my horizon professionally, personally, geographically, mentally, physical, and in every way - and to give my fellow people the same experience.
