I am a grandmother of four and have travelled independently to many countries since retiring but for the past 4 years I have been returning to Uganda I have helped a small community in the south west Uganda to open a Guest House that is suitable for volunteers to stay awhile - and then help in the local schools, our own nursery school and with womens groups in the area. I am a Brit and one of the owners (along with my partner James- USA and Beat - SWISS) of a tour operator based in Guatemala that offers tours to Guatemala, Belize and Honduras. I have a baby daughter so Im learning to be a mum! I started working life as a mechanical engineer then went travelling and ended up volunteering and working for Save The Children in Columbia and Peru. After that I travelled throughout the Americas - driving from Guatemala to Canada before going back to work but this time in LA. I met James in LA (Helicopter Pilot) and we hatched a plan to start a travel company in Guatemala - a place we both loved - and the rest as they say is history!! |
