I'm an uneasy traveller. I'm comfortable in familiar places, where my hands know the position of the coffee pot without having to look. I travel to remove myself from my comfort zone and open myself to otherness. Perhaps that is my philosophy: travel shouldn't be comfortable, but discomforting; the creation of active memories, not straightforwardly enjoyable, except, that is, in hindsight, once one has reflected on the experience. |
