I am a grandmother of four and have travelled independently to many countries since retiring but for the past 4 years I have been returning to Uganda I have helped a small community in the south west Uganda to open a Guest House that is suitable for volunteers to stay awhile - and then help in the local schools, our own nursery school and with womens groups in the area. I am now actively looking for volunteers to go out there - and be sure that any money they spend - either at the Lodge (£50 per week for full board & accommodation) will stay within and ultimately help that community See www.ugandalodge.com |

I really enjoy my trekking and any active holiday - I've a boredom threshold of about 2 hours so beach holidays are definatly out! Favorite country I've visited is Nepal by a mile, the people are the friendlest I've come across and the mountains are awesome, can't wait to head back there! |

I just spent 6 months in Malawi doing volunteer work at a hospital near Blantyre. It was by far both the hardest and most amazing thing I have ever done! I highly recommend it! I travelled around Malawi quite a bit on weekends and on a 9 day holiday. I also went to Zambia for a few days to visit the South Luangwa Natl Park - spectacular! I like budget travel that benefits the local people where I have the privilege of learning from locals about their culture. Another fantastic place that I have visited and wish I would have stayed longer was Fiji - but not in the typical resort fashion - I went to Vorovoro to join TribeWanted - check it out at tribewanted.com, or on facebook. It's such an intense cultural experience and I made some friends that I think I will have for life. |

I have travelled a fair bit in my youth, i seem to take years off at a time, but now that i am older i feel i need better facilities than i used to have. a decent toilet is now a must! I want to go to Ethopia one of these days My dream place was Lamu, northern Kenya, 1986, of course one can never go back to a dream place! Zanzibar is off my list as it is over touristy Babati in northern Tanzania is my new home, it isnstunningly beautiful and laid back.
