I am a grandmother of four and have travelled independently to many countries since retiring but for the past 4 years I have been returning to Uganda I have helped a small community in the south west Uganda to open a Guest House that is suitable for volunteers to stay awhile - and then help in the local schools, our own nursery school and with womens groups in the area. I am now actively looking for volunteers to go out there - and be sure that any money they spend - either at the Lodge (£50 per week for full board & accommodation) will stay within and ultimately help that community See www.ugandalodge.com |

I have been living in London for the last 12 years and loving every minute. My favourite place to travel to is Africa as I was born in Zambia and have lived in Zimbabwe. I have travelled extensively through Southern Africa and never tire of going back. A dream place for me to visit would be Ghana. |

Love traveling independently and finding places as we go. Took our little boy back to Thailand this Jan when he was 18months and had the best holiday ever. Can't wait for another trip... maybe Japan, maybe Canada... xxx |

I'm a paraplegic and full-time wheelchair user, I'm an avid traveler and like to get off the beaten track which is sometimes hard as a person with a disability. For this and other reasons I'm also a travel consultant sharing my experiences and giving advice to fellow people with disabilities to help them fulfil their dreams. www.accessiblenicaragua.com |

I have been independently travelling in Africa for 20 years and have recently set up my own travel company called From Here 2 Timbuktu. I specialise in taking people across the Sahara and on small group tours in West Africa, principally Mali, Cameroon and Senegal. I do a 6 month journey from the UK and you may join me for 2 weeks or more of Faraway Festivals, tribal trips, river cruises and gorilla trekking. All of my trips take people to some of the remote communities that I have befriended on my travels, to far and distant places as my company name suggests. I have long felt that tourism in Africa tends to concentrate on the wild life and the landscape whilst the most exciting, vibrant and inspiring side of Africa - its diverse people and their extraordinary cultures - passes by the window of the 4x4. The aim is to give people that independent travel experience without the hassle, to get you right out there into the back and beyond and to put something back into some comunitiies which are very dear to my heart. |

We didn't start travelling until the kids left home, so late starters. We like small, non-touristy hotels and places. Have been to West Coast USA, France, Italy, Greece, Turkey and recently, The Gambia. Our next big objective is China. Retirement is looming, so this may well not happen yet. |
