| volcanoes Posted 08 Jan 2009 by Gill Dean If you enjoy remote volcanoes then going to Nicaragua is a place to consider. We stayed at Leon (north of Managua) which is an interesting town. We hiked up Cerro Negro, San Cristobal, and . We were meant to spend 2 days hiking up Mombotombo but could not due to back probs. | Great place for veggies in Nicaragua Posted 28 Nov 2008 by Lesley Sim The island of Ometepe in Lake Nicaragua is a really special place: amazing views of the two volcanos, brim full of interesting wildlife including naughty monkeys who have been exiled like Napoleon to end their days on their own little island and the people are super friendly. The Hacienda Merida is at te end of a 3 hour bus ride or a $25 taxi ride but it's worth it, right on the lake with hammock...more... |
