Blissful B&B in North Cornwall
Posted 11 Sep 2009 by Emma Jamieson
Jane and Julian were our hosts at Trevenna Lodge in Tintagel. Our cosy attic bedroom was spacious, yet cottage-like with a huge double bed with satin duvet and heaps of squishy pillows and a memory-foam mattress that had me sleeping like a baby. The room came with a tastefully decorated en-suite bathroom with a big tub and bubble bath, soaps and smelly things, thick fluffy towels, and a good stron...more...
More great Cornish beaches...

Lee village coveThe rain lashed, the wind howled, the waves raged against vast expanses of soft Cornish sand and the region had never looked more beautiful in my eyes. With rock pools that whiffed of salty seaweed, windbreakers dotting miles of wet gold like coloured buttons on a sandy duvet and dribbles of velvety clotted cream ice-cream running down my fingers, I embarked on a small tour of the beaches and cove...more...
The most beautiful UK beach?

Driving from Newquay to Padstow (quickly one might add. Not somewhere for the non surfing brigade) we passed a National Trust sign entitled Bedruthan Steps. Did we want to stop again and look at another cove? Yes they're stunning but after a while you get a bit coved out don't you? What the heck, let's stop, and thank goodness we did. Destiny timed it that the tide was low at our arrival revealing...more...
Non Stein in Padstow

A relatively undiscovered gem in in the Cornish fishing port of Padstow is the tiny restaurant called Jacks. In a place where Rick Stein has many other eateries (not to be knocked though!) this is a new establishment that has only been open for a few months and which can only cater for roughly half a dozen tables at a time so intimate is the order of the day. The chef was trained at nearby Margot'...more...
Surf, sandcastles and sunsets

Climb over the rocks, get your self a nice perch and wait patiently for the tide to go out at one of the best beaches in Cornwall.

Trebarwith reveals a long, golden sandy beach with views of Gull Rock making it an ideal setting for anticipating surfers, sandcastle makers and sunset watchers.

The area has improved over the 16 years I have been visiting. With the two small souvenir shops now...more...

A short tip about a picturesque, popular yet relaxing family beach in Cornwall close to St. Ives. Check out Carbis bay in the district of Penwith. The standard of the white sand beaches rival the best in Europe as does the secluded surrounding country side. In these tough financial times this tip may be useful.more...
Seal Sanctuary in Cornwall

Gweek Seal Sanctuary in CornwallIf you're heading to Cornwall, the Seal Sanctuary in Gweek is a great way to spend a day.

The seals of course are absolutely adorable but it is great to see a working sanctuary - where they are being released back into the wild - rather than a zoo.

There are other animals too such as otters and sealions!more...
Minack Theatre
Posted 07 Nov 2008 by Em Todd
If you're ever in Cornwall you really should book some tickets for the Minack Theatre. Its an open air theatre with a fascinating history - built and financed by one woman, Rowena Cade. Its set in a gully right on the cliff overlooking the sea, just 10 minutes from Lands End. As you can imagine the setting is out of this world.

The first performance was in 1932, and its been built up since t...more...
