See my other tip)As a full-time worker (and a part time arm-chair dreamer) it's been hard finding time for my favourite hobby, so I decided it was about time that I did something about that a...more... |

Desert Island Posted 18 Jun 2009 by robert back Lankayan Island lays in the Cebu Sea between Sabah and the Phillipines. Primarily a dive resort it's perfect for a short getaway from the mainland and great for snorkelling or just chilling out under the palm trees on the pristine white sand. The crystal clear waters hold an abundance of life and colour. Even as you walk through the breaking surf smaller black tip reef sharks swim at your feet. In...more...
Bali Magic - above and under water!!!! Posted 21 Mar 2009 by jessica starling This tip is about an incredible place that offers everything from diving to horse-riding to sailing a traditional phinisi to just hanging out in the jungle or on the beach! It's called a resort but it's more like a nature reserve forest lodge kind of thing. I've never been anywhere like it and also only came across it by chance by looking for somewhere 'a little bit different'. So here's my divi...more...
Bali: Paradise! Posted 05 Mar 2009 by Lucy This island is just beautiful. Each village has its own speciality craft: woodworking, stonecarving, silversmithing, batique, painting... It's worth taking the time to look at them all. Everything looks so cheap that we ended up spending a lot of money, but didn't regret any of it. The Bali Hyatt hotel is brilliant - the staff are beautiful, polite, and oh so helpful, the food is out of t...more...

Sunset Heaven Posted 03 Nov 2009 by Julie Pratt Western Australia is sunset heaven. Watch the sun go down as you laze in a hammock sipping local wine. Relaxing after an invigorating afternoon in the south being buffeted and whooshed along by Margaret River surfing waves which even make body surfing exhilarating; picnicking in native forest in Perth’s Adelaide Hills; or in the north enjoying playtime in the tranquil waters of the Ningaloo reef l...more...
India: Now is the time to Go!! Posted 29 Oct 2009 by Aline Dobbie INDIA is discovering that having experienced a tourism boom in the last five years now reality has struck once again as a result of the global recession and the impact of that on western travellers, and also because of last November's tragic terrorism attack. For years I have thought that a majority in the tourism and hospitality industry had become greedy, and with it arrogant and inevitably n...more...
Margaret River - accommodation in a beautiful spot Posted 27 Oct 2009 by claire southern Margaret River accommodation, even off-season can get quite booked up. However our naivety led us to a stunning place to stay last year. We arrived in the small town of Margaret River around 9pm (which for Western Australia is quite late!) and so with most places closed up we ended up staying in a town centre hotel with little character. In the morning we headed straight for the tourist office whe...more...
The most luxurious hotel in the world Posted 18 Oct 2009 by Justin Francis I work in travel, and have been lucky enough to stay at some really stunning places - but the Southern Ocean Lodge really takes the biscuit!the views as you walk in will take your breath away - ocean to one side, wild bush to ther others - and not a building in sight. If its a really special occasion then the Southern Ocean Lodge is a place that you will never forget. Their environmental c...more...
| Kangaroo Island highlights Posted 18 Oct 2009 by Justin Francis Kangaroo Island (over 100km long and 50km wide) is a short flight south from Adelaide. | Delightful Agriturismo Posted 21 Sep 2009 by robert back A week of staying in various Agriturismo's (working farms offering accommodation) in the South Western corner of Sardinia revealed that whilst food was always fantastic and hospitality welcoming lodgings themselves were sometimes a little basic. There are of course exceptions and one of those is the Agriturismo Biologico Fighezia tucked up in the hills in the province of Fluminimaggiore. We were w...more... |
There is a reason to miss the midday sun when visiting St Nikolaos Beach Posted 18 Sep 2009 by clare fisher Through Argasi town and off of the main road, heading towards Vasilikos, you will find many small beaches included that of the lively, sun worshipper strewn strip of sand, that is St Nikolaos beach. Stroll towards Ammos beach bar and find yourself a sunbed, a deck chair, a sofa or even a hammock to sit back and relax on. The roof, covered in crispy, sun dried palm tree branches, covers a shad...more...
croatia with kids Posted 07 Sep 2009 by Rachel Kennedy Great island for a holiday with kids - just off the coast of Dubrovnik. Lopud has no cars, just a sweeping promenade across the bay lined with old merchants house for strolling along, and a maze of paths and steps criss-crossing the lemon and olive groves across the island. It also has sandy beaches which are few and far between in Croatia - a few small ones on the village side with crystal cl...more...
Akdeniz Bahcesi (Mediterranean Garden) Posted 30 Aug 2009 by Jan Lelie We stayed at this lovely place for five days only, but it felt like 5 weeks. 3 houses in a large garden / orchard full of organically grown fruits and friendly chickens; we rented the Green house. The place is about 50 meters from a quite part of the beach. Mrs Kiliç also has her own textile workshop and made all the textiles in the house. The owners are so modest: the signs are hardly noticeable:...more...
The best sunset in the world? Posted 20 Aug 2009 by clare fisher The lonely Planet Thailand guide states the mere 'sight of Koh Phi Phi can make you shed tears'. Waking up in a 1500baht (approx £26) a night room, and glancing out the window to see a jutting, limestone Koh Phi Phi Don (the island made famous from the film The Beach, starring Leonardo DiCaprio) brings you very close to it. After taking a barefooted stroll (which felt somewhat hot and long...more...
Go backpacking bananas Posted 07 Aug 2009 by clare fisher Driving up to the quiet road that leads to Agnes water, I wondered what we would do with ourselves over the next four days. A fellow traveller had told us, as a must do, that we should stay at Cool Bananas, a sleepy hostel opposite the beach and a short walk to all local amenities. We were greeted, rather unsurprisingly, with two, rather large bright yellow bananas, an unattractive permanent fi...more...

| The most beautiful UK beach? Posted 24 Jul 2009 by robert back Driving from Newquay to Padstow (quickly one might add. Not somewhere for the non surfing brigade) we passed a National Trust sign entitled Bedruthan Steps. Did we want to stop again and look at another cove? Yes they're stunning but after a while you get a bit coved out don't you? What the heck, let's stop, and thank goodness we did.
