Tibet discovered, independent holiday reviews

I am reborn! Simply the best holiday I have ever been on
Tibet Discovered, reviewed 8/8/06 by Anne Goffin.
As a couple in our late fifties we felt the tour was well tailored to our needs particularly as my husband was suffering from sciatica and recovering from a broken ankle. We chose an individual tour to ensure that we would not hinder other people.
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
The whole of the holiday was extremely memorable but the highlight was the trip to Everest Base Camp. The views from Rombuk, particularly with the sunset and sunrise were out of this world. Hiring of horse and cart was simple but bear in mind that you may lose the facility when you are at the Base Camp as some people walk and decide to "borrow" to take them back down. Just be firm and ask for another one. The most memorable and exciting part of our holiday was Everest Base Camp.
2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Be prepared for extremely bumpy roads when travelling to remote areas. Yak steaks are in fact very tasty. Warm clothing is a necessity at higher altitudes but sleeping bags are not necessary required as all accommodation had warm bedding.
3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?
We feel that the holiday benefited local people and minimized impacts on the environment.
4. Any other comments?
We give this holiday five stars and we would go back again. In Nepal we found absolutely no problems with safety and security issues and were completely at ease middling with the local people. We were in fact stopped by the Nepalese Maorists on our return journey but simply refused to "contribute" to their cause. There were no problems and they just let us go.
