CSR Internship Job description

"I managed to transfer onto a CSR course this year and am really enjoying it. A lot of what I learnt from you has been great preparation and my course mates have asked questions about the internship so it's been brilliant to tell them all about RT!"
- Sam Kean, CSR Intern, summer 2015

Our internship programme
UK law requires employers to pay the National Minimum Wage for any kind of work, including work experience, internships or placement schemes. At present we are only able to offer internships that are fully funded by a third party.

We work with Sussex university who offer fully funded internships to their students and would consider students from other fully funded internship programmes. Below is a sample CSR Internship Job description that we have with them to give you a sense of what we offer. The exact role we are able to offer to fully funded interns will depend on our requirements at the particular time.

About us
At Responsible Travel we’re here to connect the world’s best small tour operators with people looking for real & authentic holidays. Starting with just 2 tour operators in 2001 we’ve become the leading place to find tours from over 375 small & specialist tour companies in 190+ countries.

All the operators and accommodation that we represent (our members) have been screened against our Responsible Tourism criteria. The operators require a policy and any holiday that they wish to promote requires a statement on how that policy is put into practice on the particular holiday.

CSR Internship Job description
We are seeking someone interested in Responsible Tourism / CSR policies in action to join our web team. The role will focus on checking the information that our members are writing against our policies to ensure that they meet our social and environmental standards. To ensure that operators are doing as they say we also e-mail everyone who travels with us asking the traveller whether they thought the holiday was responsible.

Preparing product to go live
When members submit new pages for promotion on the site they need to be associated with the correct sections of the site to ensure they appear in the right searches and on the right pages. Images often need adding to the pages and their making a difference statements (see below) also need to be checked.

Checking the trip specific making a difference statements
You will help check the Making a Difference statements that our members submit to see whether or not they meet our requirements for promotion and inclusion on the site.

Checking Tour operator Responsible Tourism Policies
Before becoming a member all tour operators have to have a policy on Responsible Tourism, this is then published on our site.

Publishing traveller reviews
