Everywhere you look there is a list of things to do before you die; all the books and magazines tell you that these are things that you must do and experience to make your life complete. But here at responsibletravel.com we appreciate that everyone is different, everyone has a different budget and everyone has a different idea of what an adventure is. So instead of boring you with another list of things we think you should do, we’ve selected a few of our favourite adventures from the extreme to the serine to share with you.
Extreme adventures For those fearless thrill seekers among you with a need for something unusual we have a range of extreme adventures in various far flung locations. For the super adventurous type who is looking for the ultimate in bragging rights why not try the scariest adventure we’ve ever heard of - sky diving over Mount Everest.
This is definitely not for the faint hearted or those on a budget but I doubt you will meet many people who have willingly leap from a plane at 29,000ft above the world’s highest mountain. For a clearer view of Everest and the Himalayas a
trek to Everest base camp is still a physically demanding but rewarding experience. If you’re more of a water baby than a mountain goat how about
kite surfing in Brazil? You don’t need to be experienced to try kite surfing and with beautiful beaches, excellent seafood and the nightlife of Rio to keep you busy there’s no chance of letting the grass grow under your feet here. If you’d rather keep your feet firmly on dry land then what better way to travel than by motorbike. If its smell of engine oil and the sight of leathers that gets your motor running then brush up on your off road skills and join this
motorbike tour of Mongolia. Sadly, you won’t be joined by Ewan McGregor but you will get to stay in traditional ger camps.
Exotic adventures
If you’re not after something quite so extreme but do fancy a taste of the exotic, why not try
scuba diving? Whether you’re a beginner looking for a PADI course, a family wanting to combine sightseeing with an activity or a conservationist looking for a worthwhile break away from home we have plenty of scuba diving holidays from the Red Sea to Mexico. Would you rather be on the water than in it? Then why not try
sea kayaking. We have a range of sea kayaking holidays in fabulous locations from Kerala to Croatia. For an experience to remember, why not try
kayaking with Killer Whales? Don’t let their name put you off – Killer Whales or Orcas are basically big black and white dolphins, but seeing them is truly breathtaking. And for those with a preference for dry land why not try
horse riding? If you think horse riding is only for the polo & pony club, then think again as we have a range of adventurous horse riding holidays including Kyrgyzstan, Ecuador and Poland. Whether you’re a novice looking for a gentle ride or an experienced rider looking for a challenge, we’ll have something to suit you.
Adventures closer to home Adventurers with a smaller budget can still have a whale of a time by enjoying some of the great experiences and scenery a little closer to home. Scotland is a wild and wonderful place where you can try sea kayaking or
whale watching. For an adventure of a different kind, why not spend a few days in the Sahara desert
living with a Berber family? Morocco is only 3 hours from London by air or why not extend your adventure and see Paris and Madrid on the way and travel by train.
Weekend adventures in the UK Are you a busy bunny who’s short on time but looking for adventure? We have some great weekend experiences, right here in the UK that will fit nicely into your busy schedule. You can ride the waves on a surfing short break in Cornwall or you can take a short cruise to see the wildlife and natural beauty of the diverse
island of Mull. In Wales you can
kayak along the Pembrokeshire coast and if you’re lucky, meet the seals and dolphins of Cardigan Bay. Or you can spend a few hours
hanging out in a tree on the Isle of Wight.
Less energetic adventures If you’re not looking for an adrenaline rush but still want to try something new on holiday then why not try a
cooking or
language holiday? You can learn how to make curry in Kerala or the perfect pizza in Puglia and see some of the sights whilst your there. Most of our language holidays combine a tour of a country with some language lessons to help you chat to the locals and make the most of your time there. If your in the party spirit then you could try a
dancing holiday. Whether you fancy some salsa, samba or belly dancing this can be a great way to get to a feel of the local culture. What ever form of adventure you’re looking for, why not escape the 9-5 and
try something new.
