Lapland holiday, dog sledding adventure in Sweden
How Lapland holiday, dog sledding adventure in Sweden makes a difference
Environment
We have now been working out on the mountains for 17 years with our amazing dogs, we know that dogsledding adventures is one of the few holidays that you make no carbon footprint in our beautiful wilderness. We also encourage you to climate compensate for your flight. We always take care of and recycle all the garbage here back home at the company and out on our tours. Our policy, no garbage in nature.
We are so proud that we can show our guests eagles, ptarmigans, capercaillie, reindeers, moose, mountain fox and all other birds and wildlife. Sometimes we see wolverine, lynx, bear - we nearly always see tracks from these predators on tour and sometimes from wolves passing the area, and we do everything we can to protect the wildlife we have in the area.
Our water is some of the best in the world, its soft, clear, no pollution and very tasty. We drink water from all the lakes and streams on tour and you will miss it. Here in our area you can stay out on your tour without meeting anybody at all.
On tour we don’t disturb wildlife, we lift up the culture, no scars or garbage in nature, we are a member of Natures Best - Natures Best is the first national ecotourism quality label in the Northern Hemisphere. Best for the visitor, best for the nature. We also won the Grand Travel Award 2005 for the Best Ecotourism Company in Sweden.
Community
We cooperate with our local companies in all we need. We do this because we believe in our area and like to work in sustainable way. We have a near collaboration with all our partners in the area.
All the items and souvenirs we have are only from our local handcrafts from the Sami culture and settler culture. On our tours we inform and tell history and stories about Sami people and settler’s ways and culture.
The food is local and our dishes are mainly from the area like moose, fish - trout and arctic char, reindeer, cloudberries, raspberries, blueberries, kantarells-mushrooms. We hunt, fish and pick berries and mushrooms, the dishes on the tours are all prepared from this local food. We won the Wilderness chef competition 2007.
We work in our beautiful nature in collaboration with the settlers and Sami people. Sometimes we come in contact with the Sami people that are working on the mountains and we all show respect for our work and the nature.
We are one of a few dogsledding companies in Sweden that have permission from the state to travel in the National Parks for commercial use. That means that we have a close relationship with the people that live and work in the National park and we also have certain criteria to travel in the parks, some of these criteria’s are that we can have dogs together with reindeers, that we show culture attractions in the area and we also follow certain routes in the park that we make together with the Sami people and the county Administrative Board.
During these years we have been working closely with our politicians and county Administrative Board and Sami people and settlers to keep and lift up our nature.
