Responsible tourism: Ghana nature & hiking tour
On day 3 of this trip, we will ride bicycles from Logba to Tafi Abuipe. In some instances, some of the bicycles are locally manufactured from the local bamboo plant. We encourage the cultivation of the bamboo plants when we patronize these ecologically friendly bamboo bicycles. This does not only helps to boost Eco-tourism in those communities but prevents environmental degradation as well. The total biking distance is about 14kms for a traveler that will use their bike to return to base camp. If the client chooses this option of biking both ways ,It will minimize the use of vehicular transportation fossil fuel for the 14 kms of total distance cycled . Another activity engaged by our travelers is hiking up to the mountains and hiking back, the effect is that they would have spend almost more than half of a day in participating in hiking activity which does not require the use of fossil fuel vehicular transportation and so prevents environmental pollution. As a usual practice, we do not litter the environment since we carry along all the litters with us and dispose them properly.
Community: Our community support efforts come in various forms. We create contractual jobs for the local people by the tour guides we engage on this trip. All the tour guides are from the communities who have in-depth knowledge of the local communities and their cultures. We help sustain the local economy by the entrance fees we pay to the site managers, the porters we hire to take our visitors to the mountain during hiking . These fees are their source of income which also keeps them on their job. We do hire vehicle from a local owner who hails from the local area to pick our clients from Accra and drive them during the entire . The payment of the vehicle rental to local transporter ensures that income is maintained at the local community we send the travelers During the trip Palm wine is offered as a local drink brewed from the palm tree which is also of great economic value to the local people We encourage code of dressing just to avoid cultural corruption. All our accommodations on this trip are locally owned and run. We engage the local people in business by patronizing their local eco lodges/ accommodation facilities which earns them a living. Although we allow our clients the choice to some continental dishes, most of the meals on the trip are delicious locally prepared food. By interacting with the local people on the tour, we encourage relationships building thereby enabling the travelers to have ever lasting memories about the trip.
