Responsible tourism

Responsible tourism: Annapurna base camp trek in Nepal

The land of Nepal has enormous potential. She is rich in vegetation and wildlife, and has a lot to offer locals, as well as visitors. For these reasons we believe in sustaining the environment and request our clients to be responsible tourists. We strive to give 100% to keep our environment as pristine and natural possible. We believe people should only use nature's resources at a rate at which they can be replenished naturally. We use designated routes, campsites, and resting places to reduce trampling and other negative environmental impacts. Also, we strictly deject the use of bottled and canned foods, and serve treated water to our trekkers. Moreover, we carry out all of our rubbish and dispose of it properly. Our cooking is done over adapted gas or kerosene stoves –never firewood. We, thus, urge our clients to bring warm clothing for evenings, as we do not believe in campfires, since they pollute the air and encourage deforestation. Making unnecessary noises may disturb our natural surroundings, and we may miss the opportunity to encounter wildlife. Because of this, we try to maintain a peaceful environment by enjoying nature quietly, rather than creating superfluous noises.

We try to contribute economically to the locals on our trekking routes. We respect local culture and traditions, use homestays, locally owned hotels/ lodges or campsites, as much as possible to support the local economy during our treks. We serve locally prepared food to our clients and entertain them with local cultural programs, which raise funds that are contributed to education for the local community. We urge our trekkers to procure locally made souvenirs and goods, as money spent here will contribute directly to the local livelihood, women’s empowerment, and environmental conservation. Our staff members were born and raised in the Himalayas, and with their vast knowledge of the trails and terrains, they guide you through the Himalayas with ease. They are not only experts in guiding the paths, but are also trained frequently in first aid and emergency response, so know how to react and treat health and other related problems that may arise while trekking. For the sake of their safety, our guides are provided with insurance from the company. Our porters are also hired from these areas and they are provided with adequate clothing and equipment.
