Zimbabwe holiday, wildlife tour
Typically trips are expertly guided by a leading specialist with a good knowledge of the area to be visited. Inevitably, wildlife is the main focus of attention however, the aim will be to incorporate all other aspects of the natural world in an attempt to be as broad-minded as possible. A local guide may often accompany trips.
How this holiday makes a difference
Environment
The trip supports conservation efforts of the Victoria Falls Anti-Poaching Unit which works in an area around Victoria Falls and the Zambezi National Park; the Painted Dog Conservation which works towards the conservation of Wild Dogs in Zimbabwe; and Friends of Hwange Trust which raises funds to supply water to the vast herds of elephants and other animals in Hwange National Park as well as work on combating poaching and protecting the park’s wildlife.
Our guides are committed conservationists and ensure that good-practices are followed whilst on safari be it in a 4WD or on foot. They explain the do’s and don’t’s to the clients and ensure that the welfare of the wildlife comes first.
Carbon off-setting is done by a donation on behalf of every client to Rainforest Concern.
Community
This trip supports a number of local organisations. These include the Victoria Falls Anti-Poaching Unit which has generated jobs as members of the unit and the Painted Dog Conservation which not only employs members of the local communities but has a number of educational outreach programmes with the local communities focusing on the value of natural resources and wildlife.
They support local artists by selling their crafts at the art centre of their Wild Dog Rehabilitation centre Visitor’s centre and work on projects focusing on using sustainable Natural Resources Development and Management with the aim of increasing livelihood opportunities for local communities.
Our partners in Zimbabwe also employ local Zimbabweans.
