Responsible tourism: Casablanca & Marrakech short break, Morocco

We promise to make your holiday to Morocco unforgettable but not at the expense of the environment or the local people. All tour guides in Morocco are responsible for ensuring that the guests understand the nature of the environment that they are in and minimize the impact that they may have.
We send detailed pre-departure information to our travelers upon booking their tour with us. This includes information on travelling responsibly and minimizing their impact on the local environment.
Our business is 'paper free'. Reservations are made by the internet. We do not have a 'glossy brochure' to sell our enterprise. We only advertise through our website, so We try to limit printing on paper and recycle as much as possible.
Through our environmental responsibility, all historical places visited are to be left as we found them without touching sites and dropping litter, and we always advise guests to conserve the environment and not to smoke at the historical sites. Moreover; our local staff are prevented from smoke during working hours. Also we decided not to use car horns excessively whilst driving. We try to reduce plastic waste. As in many countries, Morocco has a waste disposal problem which here in the inhabited Toubkal National Park can be more noticeable. Rubbish, particularly plastic rubbish, that does not decompose, is one of the main culprits. So we try to reduce the use of plastic bottles at the Kasbah, as we believe these are unnecessary. Our ultimate aim is that we and our guests will not be a source of plastic water bottle waste. We believe this is possible, as we have a source of safe drinking water and hence bottled water serves no useful purpose.

Our sightseeing tours are operated and led by local guides. We use local drivers and all tour arrangements are made by local staff. In addition we use locally owned hotels and restaurants and all their staff are employed locally. Part of the entree fees to all Moroccan historical sites contributes to local conservation. Concerning local community, we use locally owned hotels and restaurants and their entire employees are local people. Some of the employees are from the Berbers community and the Moroccan government does its best to keep their customs and their culture heritage for the development of tourism in Morocco. The government makes Berbers aware of that importance.
We believe that the Responsible Travel concept has to be a two-way strategy with both the travelers and the local community gaining benefits. We benefit the local communities we visit using a wide scope of activities that have a positive impact on the local economy, directly by donating money to charity organizations, financially supporting some local communities and by recruiting employees who belonging to the local community. During clients’ visit to historical places in Morocco, there is a souk (Bazaar) where they can deal directly with normal local people with the help of our local guides. We encourage our guests to buy local products and make use of services that people local community offer. We help indirectly through capacity building projects we implement with our employees and through the experiences and culture exchanges that take place between the locals and the travelers during our tours.
