Responsible tourism

Responsible tourism: Iceland walking holiday

We try to use the minimum of transport during the walking week. This helps with reducing fuel emissions and also keeps the cost of the holiday down. We always walk on designated paths where possible to keep our impact on the surrounding landscape to a minimum and we always take our rubbish with us.

During the week all hot water and heating in all the places we stay is from geothermic sources - there are no fossil fuels or nuclear used. This is right across Iceland making it one of the greenest countries in the world - so our impact on emissions whilst you are on holiday will be almost zero.

Our local guides extensive knowledge of Iceland enables us to offer this hike with some personal experience and a close look at the landscape that is around us. We think that our trips provide a good balance between the region's well-known 'must-sees' and off-the-beaten-track walks. We will provide a real insight into Iceland. The group for our scheduled tour is between 8 and 14. Groups are accompanied by a tour-leader and a guide fully knowledgeable about the country. All transportation is organized by us.

Respect for local people, their cultures, traditions and environment are essential to our philosophy and we work hard to ensure our groups have a positive impact on the places and people visited. We hope that our clients will be treated as guests rather than as tourists whilst travelling with us.

Our company is a family run company specialising in small-group walking holidays. We have been guiding an Icelandic group in Spain for several years now and we thought it is time to go walking in Iceland. We are using a local Icelandic guide who has walked with us in Spain over several years. She is a very experienced and knowledgeable guide. We are using local transport companies and also the hotel we are using is also past client.

Steinunn the guide hopes to tell you the great fables of Iceland and show you some of the best scenery and walks Iceland has to offer. She is a local celebrity with time working in Radio, films and music, so you will be entertained by her fantastic stories.

All our walking holidays will always respect the local culture and wildlife, we leave no trace of our walks. We use local produce and all our hotels and meals are prepared by local people providing a long term tourist infrastructure.
