Day-by-day itinerary

Day 1:Arrive at Athens International Airport, pick up your chosen hire car and drive directly to the picturesque seaside village of Tolo, located on the Peloponnese Peninsula. Upon arrival in Tolo you'll follow directions to your accommodation and settle in for the first night of your self drive holiday in Greece. Note: more time before or after the tour can be arranged for travellers to experience Athens.
Day 2-3-4:For the next three days you'll be based in Tolo where a wealth of day trip destinations, such as Nafplio, Mycenae and Epidaurus, ensure you'll have plenty of options in between time spent checking out the Peloponnese beaches. Boat rides to the nearby islands of Spetses and Hydra are also easily accessible with time to rest, relax and explore in Tolo providing drivers with plenty of memories out of the car seat as well as in.
Day 5-6:Wave goodbye to Tolo as you take the suggested driving route to the charming seaside village of Gytheio by way of the historic region of Sparta. The seafood, the views and the stunning golden sands of Mavrovouni, one of the best Peloponnese beaches, provide your base for the next couple of days with options to head to the historic area of Mani, that features the highest point in the Peloponnese, Mt Taygetos, promising some unforgettable moments overlooking the Med.
Day 7-8-9:For the next three days of this fly drive Greece holiday you'll drive from Gytheio to Pylos where countless ancient attractions await, including: the Palace of Nestor and several Venetian castles. The Peloponnese beaches here are amazing with the fine golden sands of Methoni, Koroni, Finikouda and Gargaliani all hoping to outdo each other when it comes to peace, tranquillity and scintillating seascapes.
Day 10-11:For the final couple of days we suggest you drive from Pylos to the village of Arkoudi which is situated close to the Peloponnese beach resort of Kyllini that's renowned for its natural beauty and for ancient thermal baths. Day trips to Olympia are entirely possible whilst based in Arkoudi although as you'll be heading back to Athens soon it might be wise to just stay put and soak up some sunshine.
Day 12:Your final departure day finds you making the three hour drive back to Athens International Airport where you'll be able to drop off your hire car in time to meet your scheduled flight home.

For this reason, we offer 5 euros of the total price of this package per person, for the environment in order to offset the carbon emissions that will be caused by your trip. This money are going to be used for afforestation in the mountains of Peloponnese which were hit by great fires in 2007. We run this movement in cooperation with the local Forestry Office, the Tripolis Ecologist Club and the Greek Trekking Club of Tripolis. We hope our movement to motivate other companies, locals and the local authorities to contribute to this trial.

We are also owners of a small hotel in Tripoli which is a city in the center of Peloponnese. In our hotel we recycle paper, glass, plastic and metal and make sure that our visitors are given the Travellers Code of Conduct, which provides all the necessary information that visitors need to know in order to apply maximum responsibility during their holidays.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

Exploring the Byzantine capital of the Pelopponese, Mystras, en route between Tolo and Gytheio. Beautifully painted churches, crumbling ruins, a Frankish fortress with magnificent views and a convent tortoise!

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

We started with two days in Athens and skipped the last stop. It would be well worth taking the whole trip and we would have if we had more time. We went in
late July/early August and it was too hot to do some of the sites justice - but we made the most of the beaches.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

It was great to do business directly with a local company and the agents were really helpful and well organised. We were driving so can't say our
environmental impact was particularly great - but we did get to see a lot of places we could never have reached in the time by public transport.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

Fantastic!

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

The entire 21 day trip was fantastic. Upon the agent's advice we went to the Mani and certainly enjoyed the interesting castle houses, as well as the landscape and uncrowded sightseeing. Also, Nafplio was probably our favorite town with so many interesting sites nearby as well as the beaches and natural beauty. We could have stayed there longer. Driving Greece is the way to go. Get out of Athens and see the small villages especially in the Peloponnese. June was the perfect time of year before the mad tourist crunch.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Listen to the travel agent. He did an outstanding job for us and found the best family run small hotels. All the hotels and route that he suggested to us were spot on. We don't normally use a travel agency, but would recommend and use this holiday operator again.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Yes, we stayed in small locally owned hotels and pensions and ate at small restaurants and shopped in local markets. The car we rented was very low gas mileage and a local company as well. We were able to stop at places you could never visit on a large tour bus.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

Our holiday was wonderful. We have nothing negative to say. The holiday company was easy to work with even from the United States through email and very honest. We added to the original itinerary which they readily assisted us and found places for us to stay in our desired locales that were so nice. Everything was better than promised! We have traveled extensively all over the world and driving in many different countries. This agency was the best that we have ever worked with.
