Responsible tourism: Family holiday in India, Taj and tigers
Both ourselves and our local agents are committed to preserving the environment wherever we travel, ensuring that your holiday has a minimal negative impact on the locations that you visit. This tour makes use of non-motorised transport wherever possible, such as taking a tour of Old Delhi on foot and by rickshaw. This not only reduces your carbon footprint, but it also enhances your experience, getting you right in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the area. Many of the sites you will visit will be explored on foot, and where motorized transport is necessary, you will travel by battery bus and train, avoiding an over reliance on vehicles and reducing your carbon footprint. Whilst in Ranthambore National Park, your safari will be conducted by a supplier who adheres strictly to the forest policies to avoid impacts detrimental to the environment. All vehicles have litter bins and we take rubbish away to recycle or otherwise dispose of properly.
We are committed to ensuring that our tours contribute directly to the lives of the local people you visit. At each destination, we employ local drivers and guides in addition to your Indian guide that accompanies you throughout the tour. We also use local hotels which employ and train people from the region, as well as using solar heating systems for your water. During the tour we encourage our guests to visit the local shops and craftsmen where you can guy genuine local handicrafts and bangles made by the local villagers, providing you with authentic mementos from your holiday rather than mass produced items produced in foreign countries. Whilst exploring the country on foot, on public transport or by rickshaw, which are pulled by local people, you will have the opportunity to talk with the local people and learn about their way of life, participating in a positive cultural exchange that will hopefully broaden the horizons of all participants!
