Responsible tourism: Oman family holiday, dolphin and dunes
We and our local ground agents are passionate about preserving the environments of the locations we visit. As such, this tour has been specifically designed in order to have the minimum detrimental impact on the environment. We take rubbish away to be recycled wherever possible, and use solar energy for heating your water and lighting your camping areas, and also use re-useable crockery at this time. During the tour, you will visit the excellent Ras Al Jinz Turtle Reserve. This is a protected site to which entry is strictly regulated, only permissible with a valid permit. Whilst at their nesting site here, you will have a unique opportunity to learn about the green turtles and their ecology and the issues they face. We encourage getting out of the vehicle and exploring the sites on your own two feet, or by bicycle or camel, so that you can get a real feel of the locations and cultures that you are visiting, as well as reducing your carbon footprint – win win!
We and our local agents in Jordan are committed to giving back to the local communities that we visit. As such, meals are taking in locally owned restaurants and for picnics the tour leader shops in grocery stores and souks to avoid the large stores. This gives you the opportunity to really get to know the local people and learn about their customs, culture, and food. While in Oman, you are given the opportunity to visit many local souks and craftsmen where you can buy genuine, local souvenirs and products. During the trip you will visit a Sayq village and Dhows factory, where you will get the opportunity to support the local community while learning about their way of life. By using local suppliers and supporting local businesses, by taking this tour, you will be putting money right into the local economy, ensuring that your money benefits the very people that you encounter during the trip.
