Responsible tourism: Costa Rica family holiday, rainforests and volcanoes
Both ourselves and our local partners in Costa Rica are extremely committed to environmental sustainability in the region, constantly looking for ways to reduce their carbon footprint on tours and collaborating with local institutions and projects to do this. They have been awarded the Costa Rica Certification for Sustainable Tourism. Within their business, they have implemented processes to reduce the waste of energy, water and paper having invested in eco-friendly hand washers and dryers as well as computers and faxes. They have also introduced a carpooling and recycling scheme. In particular, they participate in local initiatives and campaigns to promote conservation, protect wildlife and encourage visitor awareness by bringing tourists to less visited destinations, such as Tortuguero National Park. The national park is home to the Caribbean Conservation Corporation project, an organisation recognised for its protection of wildlife, and whose main project is the protection of green turtles. Visitors have the opportunity to explore the area accompanied by a guide.
Sustainable development is of great importance to both ourselves and our partner in Costa Rica. It is necessary to protect the environment and cultural attractions so that future generations can enjoy the natural wonders of our planet. On our tours, we employ local staff and guides, and use local businesses, meaning that your money goes directly to local communities, providing an excellent incentive for local people to protect their natural environment that attracts tourists to this diverse and beautiful country. The local suppliers chosen to assist in the running of our trips, are pioneers in the field of sustainable tourism in Costa Rica, with many having already earned national recognition in responsible tourism such as the Certificate for Sustainable Tourism by the Costa Rican Tourism Institute. This means that the suppliers have committed to providing excellent service in a way that is sustainable, meeting the needs of tourism today, without compromising the environment for future generations. We encourage getting off the beaten tourist path in Costa Rica, allowing our clients to experience the real Costa Rica, as well as providing the opportunity to really give back to the local people through trade and cultural exchange.
