Responsible tourism

Responsible tourism: Andaman Island diving and yoga holiday

Environment

Wildlife – The Andaman Island Yoga and Diving Retreat is all about the unique diving experience - being calm, slow & nourishing. It’s not the usual diving trip where you tick off as many fish species as possible during your dive.

Yoga and diving retreats are about the other side of the underwater world – the special moments that can only happen when you are really present below the surface in a place beyond time.

We put emphasis on being respectful underwater which includes treating wildlife in a sensitive way and not interfering with or touching the reefs.

Waste - Being one of the world’s last undeveloped tropical islands, we want to ensure that future generations have the chance to benefit from the Andaman’s natural beauty as much as we do. We encourage travellers to be respectful and not to litter. We also encourage collecting rubbish while walking on the beach.

If we encounter rubbish underwater we will collect it, we will encourage divers to move with awareness and respect underwater, we will observe and won’t take anything from the sea but wonderful memories.

Community

Friends and neighbors - we promote local employment - during the Andaman Island Yoga and Diving retreat, we employ locals as guides (underwater and above), drivers, housekeepers, cooks, and therapists because they are the soul of the area and bring their stories, lifestyle and inner insight into the culture of the place and because we want to help local communities develop.

Volunteering and charity - all of our retreats are part of Come & Give Back where 10% of profits go directly towards non-profits that help our worldwide family. For the Andaman Island Yoga and Diving Retreat we will donate to ANET, Centre for island Ecology. The aim of ANET is to advance an understanding of the Andaman and Nicobar Island's diversity of flora & fauna, its abundance and distribution, coastal and marine habitats and its connection to the needs of indigenous tribes and settlers inhabiting this land, and is trying to actively contribute towards their conservation through education and development.
