Responsible tourism: Rural Italy short break, Mount Grappa
This tour has all the ingredients to allow the responsible traveler to experience the mountain environment in the most authentic way possible.
To reach the “Malga”, which you can using snowshoes (also known as “ciaspole”) - an easy and environmentally friendly way to move on snow. Traveling this way means there’s no environmental damage. No need to drive on this tour. We also keep group sizes small, so as not to disturb the local wildlife.
Afterwards, when you reach the top, you can enjoy delicious food tasting. Alpine cheese, typical of the Monte Grappa, plus Morlacco, a traditional cheese of cow's milk soft; thin, raw, which took its name from the native land of shepherds, also promoted by the Slow Food movement. This is a wonderful journey to discover new landscapes and flavours!

The refuge Alpe Madre is an authentic historical house of the nineteenth century located in the Alpine foothills of the Grappa massif. It 'been transformed into retreat in 1999 and is now run by Darius, a traveler and naturalist guide who loves good food and sustainable tourism.
Our ethos is to encourage a responsible discovery of these mountains and their products.
From the refuge, you will be guided for a snowshoe hike to a mountain hut with a small dairy, cheese tasting and lunch and then go back, always with snowshoes, to the refuge.You will enjoy the energy of the Monte Grappa trying local products tasting, visiting the trenches of World War I and snowshoeing in the woods.
We have organized this trip so that it can be completed without haste, with a limited number of destinations each day - ensuring our customers can gain a greater enjoyment from the local area.
