Responsible tourism

Responsible tourism: Southern Africa tour, wildlife & Victoria Falls

Environment

This tour is packed full of natural wonders and rich wildlife spots. We visit Victoria Falls, Okavango Delta and Chobe National Park. The fees associated with these highlights goes back to conserving the environment and maintaining the beauty that Africa is famous for.

All wildlife excursions are led by experienced and highly trained local guides with an excellent knowledge of the wildlife and conservation efforts within the area. We strongly recommend maintaining a safe distance from all wild animals and try to impact the local environment as little as possible. We visit Matobo National Park in Zimbabwe where there is a full day guided excursion including walking with rhinos at a safe distance as to not disturb them.

We also encourage passengers to head to Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary in Swaziland where they can choose from a number of optional activities such as game drives, cycling or hikes.

We also travel by Overland truck. This reduces our carbon footprint and all waste and refuge is disposed of in a responsible manner. Our trucks are equipped with long range fuel tanks and comply with strict Euro IV emissions.

Community

This tour goes to Swaziland where we have the chance to visit the Matenga Cultural Village. Here we urge clients to embrace the traditional cultural song and dance performances and meet the locals who live by such strong Swazi traditions.

When travelling on the overland vehicle we prepare and eat our lunches. This is done by stopping off at local businesses and shops and buying food, directly giving back to the community.

In the evenings the Tour Leader will encourage passengers to eat at local restaurants in order to help local businesses in Africa. This is also highlighted on the website in Windhoek where passengers are encouraged to visit “Joe’s Beerhouse” which provides a mix of Namibian and German culture.
