Responsible tourism: Luxury family Kenya and Tanzania safari
Care and protection of natural resources is extremely important to us. As a result we work exclusively in locations that have banned hunting. We exclude countries like South Africa and Botswana in favor of East Africa for our wildlife viewing. On location we obey the park rules and maintain a safe distance (varies with each animal) thus ensuring you have a safe trip and disruption to the animals we encounter is minimal.
Our camps use a variety of eco friendly processes such as solar power, heat exchange systems and power out hours to conserve energy. These camps also distribute any excess food and drinkable water to local villages.
Our vehicles are equipped with power converters allowing batteries and cameras to run on a renewable source of power. We also recommend international carriers such as KLM that have a robust carbon offset program.
We operate on a paperless basis rather than printing glossy color brochures. Travel tips, gear recommendations, etc are all sent digitally for minimum environmental impact.
These are just some of the features we use to protect the environment for today and tomorrow - leave nothing, take only pictures.
Our support of the community starts in our office. One hundred percent of our staff are born locally, this includes our Director of photography who has also lived and worked in the UK and Canada. This statistic means that both safeguarding the environment and the local culture are of paramount importance to us.
You will find that the camps we stay at employ and train locally sourced staff. However we feel this is not enough and we encourage guests to join us in visiting a local village - Kimana Maasai Manyatta, to learn more about the culture and lifestyle of the masai people. This will also give you the opportunity to directly support a number of micro business initiatives.
To help the next generation succeed and flourish we support Kibo primary school by providing books, funds and a tree planting program.
Rest assured long after you have left us your contributions will continue to work.
