Responsible tourism: Family activity holiday in Croatia, lagoons and islands
We and our local agent are committed to providing environmentally-friendly tours to Croatia. Our local staff collect all rubbish along the trip, and our guests are encouraged to take their rubbish away from any sites, to dispose of at their hotels. Wherever possible, our local partners recycle rubbish too. They use environmentally friendly energy saving lightbulbs and keep the use of air conditioning to a minimum.
During the tour, our guests visit the stunning Krka National Park and its famous waterfalls, situated 80km from Trogir. By bringing tourists to this region to enjoy the beautiful falls, the local people are incentivised to protect the environment here and avoid over exploitation of the region for resources such as water.
We work with local hotels and suppliers that share our environmental sustainability ethos, with food sourced locally, excursions requiring more muscle power than mechanical, such as walking and kayaking, and transfers planned meticulously to avoid unnecessary journeys, thus reducing the carbon footprint of the tour overall.
This tour uses only locally owned and staffed hotels and restaurants, along with other suppliers. This not only ensures that our guests money is being put back right into the communities that they are visiting, but it also means that our guests get a much more authentic holiday, with numerous opportunities to interact with and learn from the local people about their way of life and the challenges that they face.
Breakfast is taken every day at a local restaurant, ‘Rizzo’, and dinners are enjoyed at local Dalmatian restaurants that will provide our guests with the opportunity to experience authentic Dalmatian food and music.
We try to ensure that all suppliers of this tour, from transport to excursions, hotels and meals are local, and our local partners in Croatia are staffed by local people too, giving young adults the opportunity for training in the tourism and hospitality industry. All of this means you get an authentic family holiday, with the added bonus of knowing that you are contributing the local economy in a positive and sustainable way.
