Responsible tourism: Vietnam 16 day adventure
Feel immense satisfaction by contributing to the eco environment in remote areas populated by ethnic tribes. Help preserve traditional ways of life and protect the environment on this hiking & biking tour, using homestays not dependent on electricity and air-con. At our company we encourage this and have helped local housing in Pu Luong improve their water process to ensure they have hygienic water to meet daily living needs. We use only freelance professional licensed guides who have worked many years in tourism with a deep understanding about protecting the environment. As well as a specific tour briefing, we provide guides with the Responsible Code of Conduct to adhere to our Eco friendly policy. An important aspect is conveying the message to our clients too so they can better understand the cultural heritage of these local communities and endangered traditional ways of life - unless we all take steps to preserve these. By taking this tour it means you have contributed to preserving the environment, including the protection of National Parks by way of a small donation after visiting to support their upkeep.
We supports isolated village life around Sapa and Pu Luong from donating clothes to practical help on projects such as maintaining school buildings. We will be proud to show you. We also promote the production and sale of local artefacts and ‘theatre’ productions too, a vital source of income for a fragile economy. Our aim is to sustain these remote communities that include small businesses too that help generate local employment. We use locally grown natural ingredients in Vietnamese cooking. Have a go at using traditional methods! Going green also means recycling, composting waste and removing rubbish as well as leaving flora and fauna undisturbed. In this way we help communities maintain their own food sources as well as contributing valuable income. Our trained guides and homestay proprietors will help you understand our aims. We will also provide a Good Practice Checklist. Often we have little choice other than to use modern boats but take every opportunity to use smaller craft, including rowing boats in the Mekong Delta. Apart from no pollution this helps locals preserve existing ways of life and financially assists local families. We stop at small local schools which our support to maintain buildings and supply writing books, pens and pencils. Many clients are amazed how basic facilities are. They like to chat to pupils and donate useful items, perhaps purchased in a local market. By doing this they make an immense contribution that is enormously appreciated.
