Responsible tourism: Vietnam homestay holiday
This 15 day homestay will help travelers to explore the natural environment through activities such as hiking and more serious trekking, linked also to particular interests such as photography botany, history and local culture. A particular feature as explained in the section on Economic Responsibility is experiencing traditional ways of life in an eco-friendly setting such as staying with families, cooking local dishes and partaking in daily tasks. In this way clients can get a true feel of not only the country but of each specific area visited. We encourage small group travel to reduce the affect on the environment. A great example is transport. Each homestay doesn’t have the home comforts of air conditioning and TV but will have a friendly ambience in settings entirely different to typical tours. You will be living close to Mother Nature and experience a natural way of life, far removed from the stresses of Western society. We leave only footprints, not rubbish. Throughout the trip we use only recyclable and bio-degradable bags, not plastic, and easily recycled glass mineral bottles too.
A visit to Pu Luong homestay using a trekking route is a good example of effective collaboration between foreign NGOs (non-governmental organizations such as Flora and Fauna International (FFI), a UK-based environmental charity), local authorities and individual communities. Apart from assisting families to convert their homes to be able to host visitors, homestay owners are taught recipes, cooking techniques, and other hospitality requirements. We are very pleased to be involved with this community-based development project. This provides a fascinating insight for travellers and contributes to preserving traditional lifestyles and the local economy. We link small local business owners in the Mekong Delta with tourists so they can produce and sell traditional handicrafts. This is a great way to not only provide local employment and income but to preserve skills, handed down by generations. We are very keen to promote education for local children so they have the chance to improve their knowledge and basic skills of maths and language. We also organise educational trips for kids who otherwise would not get the chance. In booking this tour you’ll help many local people and communities to have a better life and will also support our local partners who have contributed to your special travel experience.
