Community
This trip is run by a 100% local company based in Kathmandu who uses local guides and porters. With over 15 years experience in travel and trade in Nepal, Raj Gyawali, designed this trip, to specifically follow his own recommendations after a research conducted at the end of 2009 to find ways to spread the benefit into the local community. Towards this effect, all trips stay in lodges owned by local families in the villages, who are all committed to spreading the benefits, through the promotion of the local cuisine (and made from local produce), local juices (such as the sea buckthorn juice), and locally made handicrafts, such as the horse saddle and Tibetan aprons woven by the women in this area in their free time.
All local guides are briefed and trained in Responsible Travel practices, and a monitoring system is in place to monitor porter usage and incomes. A custom responsible tourism audit (a first in Nepal) is in place to check and monitor on all aspects of this trip, to ensure that the responsibility criteria designed by the company are adhered to.
Environment
We adhere to a strict conservation code (not only on trips but also in the office), monitoring the energy usage and waste management in the office. We also recycle all our waste paper and use the end products in our limited print run of brochures and visiting cards. We also suggest deep cultural immersion experiences such as volunteering and special departures for festivals such as Teji. Our commitment to responsible tourism can be checked on our RT audit report.

We invite every traveller who books a holiday via us to send in a review. Because we don't run the holidays they're completely independent and unedited... remember to read between the lines though, as two people on the same holiday can have different views!
