Getting off the beaten track in this predominantly undiscovered country, travellers have many opportunities to learn about the 'real' Poland – both rural and urban. We spend almost all of the nights in small family run hotels and guesthouses and encourage travellers to eat in local restaurants. The tour utilises a variety of transport – including public buses and trains – where there is chance to meet and chat with Poles going about their daily lives.
We spend time in the beautiful scenery of the Tatra Mountains and the Great Mazurian Lakes District. In both areas our tour leaders take active steps to ensure our groups behave in an environmentally responsible manner such as sticking to established trails, not leaving anything behind or removing any plants. In the Great Mazurian Lakes District we visit Europe's last primeval forest and this chance to see Europe as it once was gives travellers an even greater awareness of the importance of conservation.
Many of Poland's cities are living museums to the ravages of war having been destroyed and now meticulously rebuilt. In depth information provided by our tour leaders combined with visits to the graphic memorial at Auschwitz give travellers an unparalleled first hand insight into the brutality of war.
We invite every traveller who books a holiday via us to send in a review. Because we don't run the holidays they're completely independent and unedited... remember to read between the lines though, as two people on the same holiday can have different views!
