Costa Rica building project

Volunteer travel - what's it all about?
Are you looking for an adventurous trip with a purpose, or on a gap year or career break? If you want to make a difference in some of the world’s most important conservation areas - and in community projects - then volunteer trips are for you! Volunteers tend to have a sense of adventure, and come from a range of different backgrounds and from all over the world.
Edward Abbey said 'sentiment without action is the ruin of the soul'.

How Costa Rica building project makes a difference

Environment

Costa Rica is a wealth of biodiversity and has much to offer volunteers interested in nature in all its glory. With all the natural wealth, there are still a large number of families still living below poverty level.

We believe that travel should have a lasting positive impact that helps to change lives for the better. Our ethos is that under the right guidance from our local partners you can help to bring about positive change. It is a simple fact that most the countries we visit do not have adequate resources to financially support or staff up volunteer programmes and that’s where you can make a significant difference – in lending your time, energy and enthusiasm to ensure that the projects have a constant flow of volunteers ready to get stuck in and eager to help them achieve their goals.

The team in country are Costa Ricans themselves and provide a great insight into the way of life; we use locally-run accommodation and we encourage use of local markets and public transport to help ensure as much money as possible goes into the local economy and helps the environment as much as possible.

Community

When you book this trip you are physically helping a local family to build a home that they would not have without the help of this project. These families live in poor conditions and this foundation based on cooperation enables them to improve their outlook.

Volunteer assistance is needed as labour to build the house and get the work done as quickly and cheaply as possible. Funds also go to the foundation from project fee to buy resources and materials for the building work to continue. There will be no doubt at what your presence on this project has acheived as you see a new home go up in front of your eyes.
