There is a big difference between the city life and rural life in many parts of Latin America. A shortage of health care professionals means that many people struggle to get the care that they and their families need. Volunteers make a world of difference in this situation as they work in general medicine, nursing, nutrition, social work and midwifery.
Our dedication to several health care projects in Central and South America ensures a steady stream of doctors, nurses and med students, so these people get the attention and instruction the deserve, while alleviating the problems faced, such as overcrowded facilities and limited resources.
In addition to making an impact on the lives and health of the people, you have the rare opportunity to live in and become a part of some of Latin America's culture and communities; an experience that you just won't get as traditional tourist or even a backpacker. As well as volunteers, a charity has been set up to donate materials and other needs to all projects we support and these gifts are made on a bi-annual basis.
We invite every traveller who books a holiday via us to send in a review. Because we don't run the holidays they're completely independent and unedited... remember to read between the lines though, as two people on the same holiday can have different views!
