Our farmhouse was restored and built by a local Spanish builder over the course of two years, in which local materials were sourced throughout and various furniture made by local carpenters. The maintenance of the site includes the help of the local plumber, electrician, cleaner, and gardener all who play an important roll in the up keep of the place. We support local businesses and offer a choice of recommendations and visits to the local vineyard, garlic farm, olive refinery, village shops selling local produce and restaurants producing regional food.
We offer various cultural excursions in Andalucia and Morocco, that are designed to educate and enlighten with knowledgeable talks on the history of Moorish Spain and the wonderful legacy the Moorish rule left behind in architecture and education. We donate and work closely with two local charities; Action for Animals and CAS (Costa Animal Society) both animal protection and rescue charities which help in the neutering and re-homing of stray cats and dogs with in Andalucia.
Environment
A sustainable eco depositor system has been installed for all toilet waste, and we ask all guests not to flush paper down the toilets as this disturbs the natural eco system. We also ask our guests to be aware of their water consumption as Andalucia can have some extremely hot weather in the summer months, and water shortages are not uncommon.
Our office runs with the minimum use of paper with our main point of advertising being internet based. We recycle all our paper, printer cartridges and use energy saving lights in both the office and the farmhouse. We also use the available environmentally friendly cleaning products and recycle our bin waste with guests given the necessary instructions and bins; compostable, recyclable and non-recyclable.
The Andalucian countryside is precious to us, and the utilisation of local and organically grown food is a major contribution to protecting and helping our environment, and for giving our guests the very best Andalucia can offer. Empathy for the local flora and fauna and integrity to protect and maintain their place in the wild is encouraged when walking in the surrounding countryside.
We invite every traveller who books a holiday via us to send in a review. Because we don't run the holidays they're completely independent and unedited... remember to read between the lines though, as two people on the same holiday can have different views!
